Great textbook. This book includes supplementary words in addition to the chapter sociological vocabulary words. Also, there are many chances to practice what you've learned because the textbook includes workbook pages. Each chapter includes multiple examples on how to use the grammar mentioned in the chapter. Overall, it's a well designed textbook.

My 9th grader is learning it now. Its level is beyong I though for my son becuase you really need spend a lot hours on it if you want to get to know these characters. Good things is, I can see my kid comphrehensing and writing is improving (He does not studying a lot ).Butit is a difficulty for self-study Chinese. You need to get a teacher to guide you.

Used it for a class. The bok overall seemed hectic and a bit disorganized. The lack of color also made it difficult to look at because all the characters start to blend together in my eyes. I'd recommend Reading into a New China (both volumes) by Duan Duan Li. It's just an overall more organized and easy to learn from. It basically has the same topics.

Rented this textbook for a fourth year Chinese course in which seven chapters were covered. The textbook has sufficient exercises to learn the material it covers. Including a CD would be a nice touch!

Bought used, the condition said like new. Has messy writing everywhere and very difficult to erase+ left imprints in the paper.

It showed that the quality of the book was good when I bought the book. But when I received it, it was broken. Even the homework is written directly in the book. Never buy a book from Textbook Rush again.
