Amazing Product but Expensive
I really like this product and if it was slightly cheaper it would be the perfect light to use all around the house. Honestly, I have nothing but good things to say besides that this is very heavy on the wallet. The light itself gives beautiful light output with a great app to control countless amount of colors. I have multiple Hue products with 4 of these directly located in my room. The lights are connected to my Amazon Alexa to turn on and off the product. They also have multiple features to create amazing displays used along with the app "IFTTT." For example every time a Cowboy game starts, all my lights turn dark blue. Whenever it starts to rain outside, my lights blink on and off. When music plays, I can make them "dance" to the music. I have also made many lighting scenes in conjunction with Alexa. It has come to the point where I do not even have to go on the app anymore because everything is controlled with my voice. If you have the money to spend I 100% recommend the lights, but they do come with a large price point. Everyone that comes over is amazed with my lighting setup but there are cheaper options available online. I don't believe that any of these, although, compare to the quality of the Philips product. In this case you truly get what you pay for.

This is the best color Smart bulb.
I have tried so many of these Color and White smart bulbs both requiring a hub and hubless, and Philips Hue is by far the best. I now have 6 of the colored Hue lights and about 12 of the white ones, and they are fantastic. The Hue software is always evolving and getting better, and the lights just look better overall. I can use Alexa, Apple Homekit, or the App to control the lights, but most of the time they are just on timers and go on and off multiple times during the day when needed, and the colored ones change depending on the time of day, with them being a nice bluish light in the morning and a warm orange or yellowish hue in the evenings. I'm not sure what I can say about these that hasn't already been said but I've tried at least 6 different brands of the generic hubless color lights and yes they technically work but they all have their own apps and quirks. Most work with the Echo, but almost none of those work with Homekit, and are a hassle to set up and use. The color quality also isn't as good. The longest I've had one of these color Hue bulbs is about a year and it's working great, even in an enclosed light fixture. They do get warm when on for a while, but not hot, and I am not seeing any degradation over time. The older bulbs look just like the new ones, and the color is very consistent between bulbs. It's really amazing to touch a button on an app and change the whole room (or house) to a certain color, and with Hue Labs you can do experimental features like colors blending into one another, although personally I think that should be a feature of the main app. Great product, I won't hesitate for a second to give this 5 stars, which is something I've been a lot more cautious about lately in my reviews. Yes, they are pricey, but they are totally worth it. If you buy one a month, you will slowly be able to transform your house and add as much or as little color as you want. It's really impressive looking, especially to someone who hasn't seen this type of lighting before. These lights also work well with motion sensing, and as wake up lights, there is a lot you can do with them. I won't buy any other brand now. These are the best.

I Love Hue Lightbulbs!
I am a huge fan of Philip Hue lightbulbs. I have more than 20 bulbs inside my home and another 20+ of the Hue outdoor bulbs to light up my backyard. What I like about these bulbs is the seemingly endless color combinations and routines that can be created to suit your needs, your moods, your whims ... anything you can think of with lighting these bulbs can do. I have attached a video to this review so you can see some of the spectrum of color these bulbs are capable of producing. The Philip Hue app for the iPhone and iPad makes changing colors and brightness as easy as touching a button. I filmed my video with my iPhone in one hand while I used my other hand to change the colors and brightness in the Philips Hue app on my iPad. It is that simple. Let's begin with connecting these bulbs to your wifi. It is quick and easy. I have connected over 40 Hue bulbs to my hub. I have never had an issue connecting to wifi. Once these bulbs are connected to wifi ... they stay connected to wifi. I have had power outages which caused wifi to reboot. No problem. The bulbs reconnect automatically. The app has several color "scenes" to choose from ... or simply use the color palette to create your own color combinations. There are routines that can be set for the lights to come on at pre-set times ... at random times ... to change color ... to shut off ... to dim or brighten. If you can imagine it ... you can use the app to set the routine. These bulbs are also Alexa compatible ... which provides even greater functionality. Want to try visual effects like strobing lights ... simulated fireworks ... a rainstorm ... a moon-lit sky ... just download one of the many third party apps available and prepare to be amazed at what these lights can do. These lightbulbs work wonders on my mental well-being. I find that the greens and soft blues help me relax in the evenings. The cool white tones energize me during the weekday. The warm yellow tones help me wake to a new day. Having used the bulbs for years now I am a believer that colors can positively impact your mood and your mental well-being. I have tried other LED color-changing bulbs (you can read my review of the Sengled bulbs to learn more). There is simply no equal to the Philips Hue lightbulb. It offers countless possibilities and performs flawlessly. I would not buy any other brand of smart bulb. I give a most enthusiastic recommendation for the Philips Hue lightbulb. Please read if new to Hue lighting - great product but understand what to expect with Hue
I just purchased my second color bulb. Also have two white ambiance in the bedroom and two white lights in the TV room. First, you have to buy a Hue Bridge to get these to work. The Bridge is a one time purchase that will support up to 50 lights. Second these are expensive but giving the product a bad review because of the price is ridiculous as is giving a bad review because a Bridge is required. Finally you have to have an internet signal to the light for it to work. Now for the lights themselves. I have these in multiple rooms, have moved lights around, and made multiple changes to the way I grouped these in the app. All of mine have worked flawlessly. We use the Echo Dot throughout our home and the lights are simple to control via Alexa as long as you use the correct name (remember a table lamp and a table light are different to Alexa). So what can you do with the Hue lights? Turn lights on/off remotely from your phone. Set colors to accent a room (great for football games using team colors). Set lights to come on when your return home so you don't have a dark house - I have mine turn when my phone shows I'm about a mile away and limit to turn on only after sunset. Just purchased a $2 app that had a fireworks program and changes the lights to your music. Adjust the colors, shades of white, and brightness from the app or through Alexa. My suggestion is to pick an area yo want to try and get a starter kit with a couple of lights. If you are like me, you will quickly come up with new ideas to add more lights to other rooms.

Awesome when used with IFTTT and Alexa
Nov. 2017 Update: An illuminated programmable color palette awaits you. These lights are much more fun for me than than they were originally and I have found that WOW factor I was seeking. I can now change my light color ambiance by simply speaking a trigger phrase to Alexa. This is achieved by using IFTTT and writing my own Alexa Hue apps. Writing IFTTT Apps is super easy. The real trick here is finding the right HEX code combinations for the lighting effects you want to achieve. There are a lot of sites that you can access for these codes to help you in your experimentation. If you're just starting out, I recommend that you check Wikipedia for Web Colors. That will provide you with a great place to get started and you can branch out from there. Also, you'll need to open an IFTTT account and link your Alexa and Hue accounts to it . Once you do that, you're on your way. You will just need to come up with trigger phrases for Alexa to access your IFTTT app to control your lights. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While these lights are nice and I kept the two I bought (I got them on PRIME day, but did consider sending them back due to the cost), they are significantly more pricey (even discounted on PRIME day) than the plain white bulbs. The colored bulbs are not much more than a novelty item for me at this point given that I haven't yet found an application in which they are useful or a way to add an extra dimension of WOW factor. You can can color cycle them using a number of techniques. While what's available is nice, I wish there was a way to improve the color variation and sensitivity to synchronization to music or other sounds - what's currently there is a bit limited in my opinion. In my case, the white lights provide me with all the functionality I need. Which I control with Alexa and a few other devices. There is nothing wrong with these, or other any of the other HUE lights I've purchased, in my opinion. I have very rarely had any issue with interaction and color of the lights using the HUE software or interworking with other devices and Alexa to control them. They seem solid, although I cannot comment on their longevity at this point, but my expectation is that they are equivalent to other LED lights. At this point I would find the colored lights much more interesting and maybe even worth the cost if there was a way to improve their sensitivity and control to sound and if there was more granular control and variation of light colors. I am guessing that the capability is there, it's just a matter of finding the right tools and color codes to do this. I should emphasize that IFTTT does have a number of widgets already available that provide capability beyond the Hue software. IFTTT also allows you the flexibility to add capabilities that are not available with the Hue software or existing IFTTT Hue widgets. IFTTT also allows you the flexibility to write widgets that allow you to control the HUE lights with other devices such as NEST Protect, Alexa, your mobile phone, etc. When I have a bit of extra time I plan to put together a couple of IFTTTT widgets that would at least make the colored HUE lights more useful for me. Maybe while I am at it I will also figure out how to get that WOW factor out of the lights that I am not feeling right now.

Simple solution to take full control of your lighting
A fantastic light for setting a mood. Soft blue or orange is wonderful for a background for some TV viewing. Hallways and bedrooms are great with dimmed yellow lighting. What I love most is that these lights require no special wiring. They just twist in like an ordinary bulb. A hub accessory tells the bulb what to do, making everything very simple. The lights can be turned on and off, and dimmed or brightened, with an app. They can also be controlled with a Hue wireless remote dimmer, Philips Hue Dimmer Switch with Remote (Installation-Free, Exclusive for Philips Hue Lights) . It gets really amazing when you add the Amazon Echo to the set. Without rising from your chair, you are in command of color and brightness with simple voice commands. Lights can be controlled in groups or individually with voice via the Echo or using the app. We have added the motion sensor to our bathroom lights to have soft light come on at night if anyone stops by there. Using the app, each light can be set to turn on or off at preset times. Great for having the lights already on when arriving home on the late side. I had mistakenly thought to have lights with these capabilities, extensive wiring modifications would be required. I guess those are days gone. The most physical thing needed for these is the ability to screw in a lightbulb. I found that as great news! Send for one or two of these, make sure you also have the Hue hub, and you'll soon kick back having some lighting fun. Here is a link to the hub, Philips Hue Bridge (Compatible with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant) . A simple way to take charge of your home lighting.

Great device to have around the house.
This is my 3rd purchase of Phillips hue lights. Always impressed with the ease of use and range of colors. Since my original purchase for my living room consisting of 2 bulbs, a strip and a hub, I have added another bulb to my living room and 2 more bedrooms. This is a very cool product to show to your friends and to set a mood. The ability to control all bulbs at once from your phone in the app or on wall mounted switches is great along with being able to control all lights at once or individually is a great feature. I have also since incorporated the wall switch so that the kids and turn on and off the lights and even set their own light setting with their favorite colors. Works great as a night light since you can make the lights as bright or as dim as you wish. Great product. Will definitely be adding to the philips hue family of lights in my house.

Premium bulbs worth a premium price
Awesome bulbs and ecosystem. Definitely a premium price, but you get what you pay for. Response time is great (from button press to light responding, almost instant, something that's not often talked about). Color matching is perfect between their other bulb styles and lightstrips. Dimming is buttery smooth with a very wide range of brightness. Go with the color bulb as it offers more options even in the "white spectrum", whether you like warmer or cooler whites. Nightlight scene is great for bedside lamps. Been adding bulbs slowly but surely for the last 3 years as sales pop up. They're all still working perfectly together.
