Versatile, pleasurable listening and excellent value.
Azatom Equinox M4 powered speakers (light oak). I already have a hi-fi amp and speakers, which produce detailed audio for refined listening; and a pair of near-field desktop reference monitors, specifically for more critical listening for home-made music production. I bought the Azatoms for more casual listening and they have surpassed my expectations. The beauty of the Azatoms is that they’re small and light enough to be easily moved about the house, have multiple connection options, and have EQ controls to fine-tune the output to suit the environment and subjective preferences. Pumping Radio 1 through them in music mode produces excellent ‘party thump’ in the bass. In dialogue mode, voices are clear. They may not be audiophile hi-fi quality, but they are a real pleasure to listen to. The remote makes it easy to choose between various sources, whether wired or wireless; and Bluetooth is easy to set up. They’re great, whether used as personal desktop speakers or positioned for room-filling sound and have good stereo separation. And they look good. Overall, I rate these multipurpose speakers as excellent value for the price.

Excellent speakers
Having had a set of small powered speakers for my PC, I decided it was time to upgrade to something a little larger. Based on reviews, I opted for these and I wasn't disappointed. I use them hooked to a Soundblaster ZE soundcard on a PC running Windows 11. First of all, the sound quality. I'd rate this at five stars; these are probably the best sounding powered speakers I've heard. Not true Hi Fi quality; very few of this type of speakers are, but these are more than good enough. The bass is good and the treble is crisp. There is a stereo amplifier built into the right speaker, which is fitted with bass, treble and volume controls. These are neatly recessed into the side, whilst the cable connections are on the back There are three separate inputs: two analogue, using RCA/phono plugs and an optical input for digital signals. There is also a Bluetooth connection, which I don't use, but it's handy to know it's there if needed. There is also a USB input to access and play digital files directly, if that is what is required.; this is also on the side. A remote control is supplied. Not essential if they are used the way I do, as they are right in front of me, but again, handy to have, and a quick way to mute the sound if needed. It's also required to play back files if used with a usb device, and there are some sound settings that are built in which are accessed via the remote. The remote also has a 'Standby' button, but there is also an on/off switch on the back of the right speaker. The built in stereo amplifier obviously supplies the right speaker directly, with a standard twin speaker cable to serve the left speaker. These speakers are intended to be used as a stereo pair, so they would not be suitable to use as a pair of mono speakers in different rooms (in Sonos style) if anyone is considering that. To sum up, overall performance is excellent and the build quality looks very good. Perhaps the only quibble is there is no balance control, but again, few of this type of speaker have one. It's not an issue for me, but worth noting. For the money, these are good value.

Nice pair of active speakers
Sounds great, looks great, mains wire is a little too short, design wise the active to passive wire could have been inset to avoid wasted space at the rear, it's an rca type wire which imo is a downgrade from the original design which was the old red/black normal speaker wire, just from a visual perspective. The pink light could be dimmable, it looks a bit like the eye from the terminator films and wigs my wife out, personally I like it though. I originally wanted the m3 version, they looked smarter and were less overbearing in my living room, but the m3 doesn't have an ir remote (stupid idea that!) so I was forced to go with the m4. Pretty much the only decent speaker within it's price range that aestheticially compliments my living room. The new features are nice, but having the buttons on the back are kind of pointless seeing as they are present on the remote. Volume and clarity wise, a nice sound, decent frequency range but of course could never really compete with the addition of a proper sub for a full range. These do have a sub out, which is a nice option.

Lovely discreet speakers
I shall pre-empt this review by saying I am not an audiophile, so am no way an expert in sound quality. However, as a casual listener these are great. I bought them to go with the record player we bought, as the built in speaker it has wasn't good enough to get the most out of the records. Aesthetically, they're a good size and look smart, coordinating nicely with the record player and unit. Sound quality and clarity is plenty good enough in my opinion, it fills the room nicely, even on lower settings, and there's a built-in equaliser to tweak things to my taste. I can also connect it via Bluetooth, if I want to play music via my phone. Set up is easy and the cables are long enough for my set-up at around 2m each. Great value for money and a marked improvement in our listening pleasure.
