I did a test with the crimper and it worked perfectly. I then tried it on the real piece if marine carpeting I am installing and went through three caps (that I had to drill out and separate) because I didn't have the stem 90 degrees to the surface. Any angle causes it to crimp at an angle making the snap useless. Once I figured that out, I had no more issues and all the crimps and snaps are working fine for the boat hatch cover. I bought additional snaps as I have a few hundred more to do for the decking and the custom cover so time will tell if I need to update this, but so far, the wrench sure beats hammering the parts together.

The tool worked as advertised.poor instruction manual (too small to read)The snaps can't be accurately positioned. (slide out)When crimping the snap stem, there is insufficient throat clearance for bulky fabric. The work around is to crimp the snap stem from outside which leaves a mark on the fabric if pressed too hard. Since this is just a tool for replacing damaged snaps. I deem the tool to be functional enough for its purpose

I have used the hammer method of setting snaps for years with variable results and fairly regular frustration at bending the crimp shaft no matter how careful I was. Plus the snaps broke off my boat cover with regularity because the crimp shaft wasn’t centered or I mashed the fabric. All that is behind me now. All my snap attachments are perfect, with no awkward pounding involved. Now I put snaps on things I might not have because of the ease and precision of doing it. I read other reviews here first, and they were right. If you do many snaps you want this tool or one like it. Over two years later the review stands; its a miracle machine if you use many snaps. Forget that pounding with a hammer.

Very heavy tool. Very awkward to use. Snaps provided are way to hard to snap together, brute strength is necessary.

I am installing snaps in a tarp for a boat. My tarp is way too big, which is ok. I am folding the material 3 times to give the snap a sturdy amount of material to get crimped onto so it won't rip out. Getting a hole thru 3 layers of tarp is no easy task, but once done it works great. I drill a hole (9/64th) for the male side and screw it into the boat, then mount the female snap into the material. I use an awl to make the hole, put the snap together on either side of the tarp and crimp it. All done, on to the next one.

I was having a very hard time fastening snaps to leather for craft. I spent hours trying to put them together. this tool fastens the snaps in two seconds!! best money spent all week.

Had to replace a snap on my trailer. This worked perfectly both parts. Not complicated to do and looks professional.

Easy to use

This thing is easy to use. Once you understand which parts have to go where. It’s pretty sturdy. And man does it get the job done quick. The only down side is that it doesn’t punch holes. And it’s a bit pricy. But it gets the job done

Easy to use and works well, instructions are a little unclear but don’t use them anyway.
