Painting and Drawing in Waldorf Schools: Classes 1 to 8

Too abstract.
The book is beautiful, nicely illustrated with many valuable instructions for the art teacher. However, as a practical guide for my specific needs, raising up illustrators and graphic artists who can actually draw, and survive in the highly competitive art world today, it lacked nut and bolt practicality. I would highly recommend this to the teacher who is guiding the fine artist. It's a full source for a fine art syllabus.

Exactly what we were looking for.
This is the book teachers use for art instruction at Waldorf. Our daughter transferred to a public school in 4th grade and does art once per week with her previous Waldorf preschool teacher. They explore different mediums and natural elements, but she was missing some skills for one of the art projects and asked me for a book to help her catch up to 6th grade curriculum. She was thrilled to see the exercises she knew she needed in this book.

I like this book to help jump start or homeschool year ...
Maybe I'm missing something. I like this book to help jump start or homeschool year with lessons on blending colors and adapting thoughts into pictures. But where are these stories they reference to? I know there are stories to be read while the kids paint to give them context and help brighten their imagination but I have no clue where to find them or even what I'm really looking for. We aren't in connection with a Montessori or Waldorf School, I just like to add these elements into our day as I can so bold like this are my bread and butter. I just with I knew of the companion with the stories that I could buy. I feel like for the price they should be in the book.

Must have for any Waldorf class teacher or homeschooler.
I pre-ordered this book from Amazon several months ago and my copy just arrived. This beautiful book is nearly 400 pages long and jam packed with gorgeous color photographs. It is conveniently organized by grade with drawing and painting examples and detailed instructions for every project. It goes beyond crayon drawing and wet-on-wet watercolor and includes form drawing, charcoal and pastel drawing in the upper grades, and even paper cuts. This is hands down the best book I've ever seen on the topic. I see that Amazon pairs this book with Color Dynamics by Angela Lord; I own that books as well and I highly recommend it. If you can afford to buy both books, do so. If you can only afford one, make it Painting and Drawing in Waldorf Schools: Classes 1 to 8 by Thomas Wildgruber.

A serious art book!
This is an in-depth book! Nearly 400 pages and tons of photos of art. I expected an elementary age book of lesson plans with stories and examples. It covers kindergarten through middle school in my opinion. It covers Greek mythology, Norse mythology, and the Old Testament.

Essential to Waldorf homeschoolers
This is an absolutely beautiful book. If you are a Waldorf homeschooler you need this book! At $25 it is a steal and it will carry you through all the grades. Wish I had bought it sooner!

Waldorf Art Exucation
I’m happy to finally have this book: a Waldorf textbook approach to teaching art. I’m inspired by the outcome of scaffolded lessons from age to age. I’ve taught art for decades and so many people have said to me that all they can draw are stick figures. I want to use Waldorf Art education to help children feel self confident in art skills development.

Exploring the magic of Watercolour
This book commences with a useful introduction and is then followed by a course of assignments to cover the duration of 8yrs. I bought it both for myself and my 5yr old daughter. We have started doing this together from lesson 1 and so far we are experiencing the wonder of colour, and the nature of water in painting. Its exciting in its freedom and promising in what it aims to teach in later lessons. Speaks to the soul on levels that the conscious mind could not go.

Nice informative book.
Very informative book. Each age/stage is broken up into chapters, which is quite nice. I do wish that there were more colored photos of children’s work for inspiration, but all in all it’s quite lovely.

Thorough and indepth
This book has been helpful to me as a waldorf inspired home educating parent. There are PLENTY of examples as it is primarily a visual book, with lots of detail and guidance as to the hows, whys and whens of art in a waldorf setting. I highly recommend it.
