Colorful and nice pictures. High recommendation!
This book is adorable. Kids can learn the clock and recognize fruits and food in nice pictures. It is colorful and show different kind of sizes in the page. Like all books of Eric Carle, the message teach to children to be friendly and eat healthy food. I recommend it.

A classic every parent should experience with their child!
My 18 month old was going through a ladybug phase and also loved anything Eric Carl so I figured this would be the perfect book for him. When I first read the book to him, not going to lie, I was laughing pretty hard. The ridiculous scenarios in which the antagonist challenges increasingly larger and larger animals is hysterical. I do not want to give too many spoilers, but there is a great redemption arc toward the end. And then I had to read it again. And again. And again and again and again. And again! And now the book is hiding on the top shelf in my kitchen cabinet. If this makes me a mean mama then I guess I'm mean! But not as mean as my son, who obviously got the wrong message from the story, who now goes around asking wasps and other critters if they want to fight...telling mama to "go away." Uh uh, mama don't put up with that!

Duh! You are not supposed to like the ladybug! He's grouchy!
I understand why many people don't like the Grouchy Lady bug character running around saying, "Hey, you! Wanna fight?" But these people are missing the point. You are not supposed to like this ladybug. He's a jerk. He doesn't want to share. He's rude, even when everyone around him is gracious. He's a blowhard and coward, who runs away when ever someone stands up to him. And in the end, he reaps what he sows and learns his lesson. He is the perfect negative example for a moody, tempestuous 2 year old! Our daughter had a rough day and lost her head at daycare, hitting and kicking other kids at the slightest provocation. Not cool. In addition to time outs, forced appologies to the other kids and parents, and stern reprimands from both my wife and me, we picked up this book at the library and it was the perfect thing. After setting up what a jerk the Groucy Ladybug was, we pointed out that she had been a little grouchy that day. "Yeah," she agreed. We then went on to point out that not only is wrong to hit others, for all of the the reasons we listed that day, but also because sooner or later someone's going to hit back..."and that's no good. So why do it?" "Oh..." she said. We're delighted to see this book is still in print. I'm buying my own copy right now. The book isn't perfect, but it's entertaining and educational.

je l'ai utilisé avec ma classe de CE, passionnant. C'est du Eric Carle et les illustrations sont topissimes. J'ai réussi à inventer des exercices d'écoute et de prononciation pour 3 semaines.

We patiently waited for this for almost 3weeks as we love Eric Carle books but was very disappointed with its quality. It is poorly printed. As you can see in the photos, the texts are so tiny making it so difficult to read (even for an adult). The clocks are also not visible (look at the upper right corner). The pictures in each page also seem as though it were designed for a smaller board book. There’s so much unnecessary white space and the ‘actual book’ is cramped and looks tiny. As you can also see in the photos, the pages seem unfinished. The boards weren’t cut properly. It is obvious that this didn’t go through proper QC as the quality is unacceptable. This is a children’s book, so the aforementioned are quite important. Note that we got The Very Hungry Caterpillar (published by Penguin) and it’s comparatively way better.
