I'm not the best turkey hunter and I'm pretty bad at calls. I always screw up at least one note if I'm using a diaphragm call or a slate. I've been OK at box calls since it's just one basic motion that's easy to get the hang of, but I felt like no matter how good I called my old box call just wasn't natural enough. I'll blame half of that on the call and half on me. So I got online and started browsing forums, looking up reviews, etc. I didn't want to cheap out on a call but I didn't want to spend a ton of money either, I wanted the best value that would get me a nice sounding call that was within my difficulty level and I spent way too much time on research.Given all that, this call is perfect. The ridge makes it so the call doesn't travel too far past the box, keeping it from screwing up the sound. I really like that ridge. Clucks are easy, yelps are easy, and the sound is loud and natural and amazing. I used it last year and was impressed despite getting it too late in the season to make a difference, but yesterday I was practicing with it outside at like 2PM since turkey season is this weekend and I managed to call in a massive tom just playing around with the call.This call is a game changer for me. If the turkeys are in a gobbling mood, they gobble at this call every time. This is the first year where I'm going into turkey season expecting to get something, which is new for me.It's beautiful too, it's one of those items that I'm proud to own.

Note- I have never used a box call prior to this purchase as I had relied on my not so great skills with a mouth diaphragm but could not achieve the pitch I wanted. The Lynch box call remedied this with its varying pitch and ease of use. You are provided with base instructions inside the package for producing different sounds but I encourage any buyers to experiment with the call at different speeds and pressures to get the sounds exactly how you want.

I received a turkey call with a crack in the box and now turkey season opens in a few and I will not have a call this year that sounds right.

Quality American made product. Only needs a new #18 rubber band and some chalk on an annual basis; easy maintenance. Nice craftsmanship and wood, not plastic! Realist turkey call that seems to do the trick here in NW Minnesota. Highly recommend.
