Love these backing pads!
These work great, just be sure you don't let your abrasive pad wear down to the point where you're damaging the stiff Velcro on this backing pad.

3M product.... unnecessary effort required to purchase
First let me say that I found this disc pad "holder" or backing pad to be a quality item. It does the job and does it pretty well. It holds the 3M "hook and loop" discs securely and provides a decent padded surface for the abrasive disc. I purchased this backing pad for use with several different 3M discs and found it to perform very well with all of them. So, what's the problem..??? Well, here it is. The "specs" attached to this product "warn" you that this item is intended for use only by "professionals". And, you will be required to submit a "disclaimer" to the effect that you are indeed a "professional" or "commercial user" of this item. What does this accomplish.?? It only serves to make a liar out of the individual who needs one of these and who is not working in the appropriate field of endeavor. In my situation, I can realistically make the case that I am a professional user. But a lot of potential customers probably cannot do that. If I were not as appropriately placed in the field as I am, the required statement would make me uncomfortable and might keep me from purchasing. The second thing pertains to the makeup of this backing pad or "holder..". While it grabs on to the "hook and loop" discs with no problem, the backing pad itself is not as "soft" as I think it should be. It is a rubbery material but it remains quite aggressive while in use. If you need a backer with some "give", this pad may be too hard for comfortable use. In any event, I like this product. I really do. And if you are not concerned about the two issues I mentioned, then it probably is well worth five (5) stars. In my case I am giving it four (4) stars because I believe that 3M is missing the mark here with their merchandising and potentially causing undue stress.

works great
4" not 4-1/2" like i thought, my mistake , says it right in the description, however they work just fine with the 4-1/2" pads

Great product!
Worked exactly as we needed it too. They also last quite a while. Just make sure you are purchasing the right size thread and bolt. There are different size discs too. So just pay attention to that and you will be fine.

Works great for polishing
Works great for polishing, until the velcro wears out. Then it will launch the disk across the shop with surprising ferocity.

#m is always the best stuff, whatever they make or sell. Doesn't always cost more either.
