Works well. Make sure to keep the tank above the pump. SEE UPDATES
This seems to be doing quite a good job in my tank due to the fact that it pushes so much water through. I have purchased in tank pumps and they just didn't perform like they needed to. He always needed to have them cleaned/removed slash a pain in the butt. This thing has worked for a month and I'll be cleaning it sometime soon but as far as I'm concerned it is definitely better than the in-tank pumps... Less cleaning and better circulation of the water. I recommend this or I think there's like one or two higher than this. I don't recommend the lowest choice that they have this one is like number two on the list. Anyway, it's during the job and I think you'll be happy with it. Keep the tank above the pump the gravity of the water will help it not to stop pumping That's a must. The light should be stronger but it does what it does. I would enjoyed it more if it had a higher wattage for the UV light. Haven't had to clean the pump for the last 30 days which is so much better than in tank pumps I was having to clean those almost on a weekly basis if not twice a week. The amount of water this thing pushes through is good and does its job. Recommended. Update: The pump stopped working and is going back to Amazon. I'm opting for the next size up which I shouldn't have to because the tank is only about 15 to 20 gallons. However, I'm hoping the quality of the next size up will fix the issue with a stronger flow. I've lost quite a few fish due to the pump stopping and the heater overheating the tank due to lack of flow. This will be the third attempt. The first one was sent back because it never worked / the replacement worked for about 3 weeks and we shall see what the third one will do. It's got 30 days to impress or it will go back as well and with that I will switch to another brand. Hopefully, the extra power in the size up will allow it to function correctly and keep flowing instead of sitting there like a brick not doing anything. Will update...

Good filter with plenty of features at a good price
Purchased this in February 2025 so I’ve been running it for almost a year. The filter has been working amazingly. I have the 225GPH version and run it on a 8 gallon nano tank. Perhaps some people will say it is overkill but I have not had to do a water change (only top ups) for a year and have only cleaned the filter sponge once. Not sure how effective the UV bulb is but algae has been minimal. Water is crystal clear 24/7. The stocking in my tank is very light and it is well planted. 1 Male guppy, around 30 neocaridina blue shrimp, and maybe 10-20 rams horn snails. I would definitely buy this filter again for another tank this size or even slightly larger. Very easy to clean if needed, you can close off your intake and outflow tubing with one lever. I love the adjustment for water flow as well. Noise is very low as well, my air pump is much louder. Fits nicely inside an aquarium stand cabinet.

Worthless destructive machine from hell
Purchase this filter system in November 2022.The prime pump handle disintegrated into pieces in February, just days after the return window closed. One month later March 2023, the machine is no longer producing clear water. I have a bacteria outbreak as a result of this. All new media was used in the last cleaning process, and the system was washed as directed as usual. Did not stop it from having particles and algae blooms producing from the filtration system itself. Three just assemblies and three re-assemblies and cleanings and replacement of medias. Again, I finally get it to produce clear water. as time is going on, and these repeated cleanings that had to take place, the machine is physically, wearing fast cracks are developing on the fasteners, and the prime pump is further disintegrating with the post reducing down to a nub. April 2023. I woke one morning in my bedroom to find the laminate wood flooring bubbled all the way across the floor. I immediately assumed it was a exterior underground leak from the sprinkler system outside, but I was wrong. As I entered my dining area, I noticed the fish tank was down about 3 inches in water. That’s right this piece of crap destructive machinery that wasted my $140 plus all the extra media I had to spend out for when it started to malfunction and not properly filter. The system, has now incurred the cost of replacing my bedroom flooring, not to mention the wall between the dining room, and the bedroom . The canister was leaking from the seal line all the way around the top of the canister with water coming out from the prime post area primarily. So I believe the water is leaking out of the pot, prime post down into the top of the canister where the motor is and just leaking out the sides down through the latch locks . So 4 inches of water in a 55 gallon tank that math I don’t know how to do to estimate how many gallons came out that I would I would guesstimate at least 10 to 15 gallons of water. The return window has closed in January and I am simply going to cut my losses and move onto a different brand. Amosijoy has lost my confidence as a consumer looking for a reliable product. A properly working filtration system is one thing I seek, but any further problems in my life such as thousands of dollars of floor and wall repairs is unacceptable . I will never buy another product of theirs, and I highly advise anyone seeking for filtration products to overlook this brand and to move on to other reputable sources.

Decent for the price
No complaints so far. The self primer works ok and the filter is pretty quiet once the air settles out of it. Didn't use the provided out/intake. Hooked up just fine to 17mm glass lily pipes. The adjustable flow is nice, we'll see how that affects the rotor long-term. Didn't use the plastic balls it came with and replaced with ceramic media I had. The UV came just fine, not sure how often if at all I'll use it but nice to have I guess. Overall, pleased to with the performance-to-price. May update in a few months to a year. We'll see. Update from 10/06/2023: The filter has been chugging for almost 1.5 years now, everything is still going strong except the self-priming handle broke in the last month or so while I was repairing after a water change. The little handle that flips up to let you pull on the priming but is made of plastic and clips into both sides of the flat end piece on the priming piston. That part being broken makes it very hard to prime. If that didn't happen though, it would be still going strong. No leaks and not noisy so long as you don't have an intake that sucks in air (pipes with a skimmer). For the price, I can't really complain.

Wow! This filter is quiet!
I purchased this for a 20 gallon tank to help with cloudy water from algae as my little Aqueon filter couldn't hack it. I took it out of the box and whoa, it's a beast! I thought maybe it was going to be too much filter for the tank, I was wrong, it's a great size. The canister itself goes together very nicely and both inlet and return connectors are clearly marked and very strong. The hoses are beefy and very stiff, which is the only troubling issue that I'm dealing with. The very simple and small instruction pamphlet suggests to soak the hoses in warm water to make them more pliable. I did this, it worked ok, until the hoses got back to RT. The tube sizes are quite large and the tank lid does not sit flush. I belive I will change to a tank mounted light rather than a top. I've found the intake tube to be very long and is sitting at the bottom of the tank, I'm not really a fan of that, but so far it seems alright. Priming... well, the priming pump on the canister is smooth and has decent suction unless there is a lot of air in the canister, and this made priming the tubes quite frustrating. I'm not an expert, fairly new at keeping fish, and I've always used a hang on the side filter, so this was a new method of filtration. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get the tubes properly primed and full, how I did it still not sure, but when it happened, outflow was nice and steady. The instructions did not have any suggestions or methods to make it easier, and as a new user of a canister filter, I would have liked to have had that. I'll have to make some adjustments with the tubes but that's a minor inconvenience. This filter is definitely worth the money, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Perfect Filter
I was going to get a more expensive fluval a filter but after research I came to the conclusion that they are all probably similar or the same and this one has the UV light. I would have had to pay more money for a trusted name brand one when this one does the same thing and more for less money. 4 stars for suction power because I did feel like I had a really hard time starting it. The hand pump worked to an extent but I had to pump it a lot and very quickly to get it to start functioning and it hurt my knuckles a few times. The tubing that comes with the filter is a little flimsy but if you follow the advice of boiling it to work out the kinks, it does sort of fix it. I currently have it hooked up with the original tubing but I did go ahead and invest in some new tubing of sturdier quality. The new tubing was pretty inexpensive so it is not a complaint. The seller also offered to refund/reimburse me for the tubing that I bought. My overall review on this product would be 4.5 Stars. It's pretty easy to take apart and put together.

Works for low water level after some modifications
I was really excited to find a small, inexpensive canister filter to use in my terrarium. Cleaning and maintenance is so much easier with an external filter, but HOB filters don't work for low water level tanks. After a few days of frustration and some modifications, this works great. I would have given 4 stars if it worked this way out of the box (see below for why it wouldn't be 5 stars). I bought it for a low water level tank, which the product description says it can do. There were a couple of issues with this: (1) the intake tube comes in several pieces. Most of them have rubber O-rings at the connection points, but the top connection (closest to the filter) does not. This means that if this connection is above the water line, it will suck in air, causing the filter to make a lot of noise and eventually stop pumping water. This connection is only about 1.5 inches below the rim of the tank, so unless your tank is filled up to the very top, it will suck air. I expect this is the source of noise that a number of reviewers complained about. I fixed this by running a bead of aquarium-safe silicone around the end of the tube before connecting it. Once fully cured, it was air tight, although it's now permanently connected. (2) The second problem is with the length of the intake tube. Using all the pieces, including the piece with the skimmer attached, it's about 18 inches long - which is what I needed to reach the bottom of my tank. Unfortunately, the skimmer is not air-tight, so if it's above the water line the pump can't achieve enough vacuum to pump any water at all. There is no way to re-order the intake tube pieces to put the skimmer toward the bottom. So the skimmer can't be used for a low-level tank. But without it, the intake wasn't long enough for my tank. I fixed this by replacing the skimmer segment of the intake tube with a piece of half-inch ID black rubber tubing. It means the intake is somewhat flexible, but that was ok with me. Some other design issues: (1) the valves to control water flow do not close completely, so if you want to stop the flow of water completely, you need to unplug the filter. It needs to be primed each time the power stops, but once I fixed the intake tube issues noted above, priming is pretty each. I place my finger over the outlet tube (make sure you've filled the cannister with water first), then plug it in. After about 15 seconds, I remove my finger. (2) The power cord is too short to make a drip loop, which is a big fire hazard (especially with how much water gets spilled filling the cannister). I plan to fix this by attaching a power strip to the wall at a high enough level to make a drip loop with the short filter cord. (3) The filter media is in the wrong order. Water should pass through mechanical (sponge) filtration first, followed by biological, and finally, the fine white floss for water clarification. This filter is set up so the water goes through the fine floss first, which means all the larger particles (that would get filtered out by the sponges if they were in the right order) are going to get trapped in the floss. It will still work, but the floss will need to be cleaned more frequently to keep the water flowing, and the sponges basically serve no purpose. I haven't figured out a way to fix this yet, since the out-take side of the filter has a plastic tube that sticks down inside the cannister through the center of the sponges. You can't swap the sponges with the floss and bio-filter baskets because of this tube. I've only had it up and running for a few days, so I don't know how durable it will be. I'll update my review if anything changes.

Some light assembly is required.
All I can say is wow! This filter is silent and I love the 24hr results. My tank hasn’t been this clean in a while. No more top of the tank loud pour quality filters for my house. I’m ordering another for my bedroom tank now. Great price and worth every dollar! Easy to use, light wheight and perfect in a small space. Thanks for the speedy delivery and great packaging also.
