I was very excited to receive this protein shake mix because it contains bone broth powder and it fits into my keto macros.I'm impressed by the high quality ingredients such as bone broth powder and the chelated minerals. It's sweetened with stevia and monk fruit (luo han guo).Unfortunately, the bone broth powder gives it a strong smell and flavor that the chocolate does not hide. When first opening, a hearty, meaty smell wafted up from the container. I then mixed it up for breakfast following the package instructions. I used 12 ounces of room temp water in a plain (non-shaker style) bottle. It took a few bouts of shaking to dissolve most of the powder. (Shake, let it rest a minute, shake again. Repeat for about 5 minutes). There were still a few lumps left as is common with protein drinks. Using a shaker bottle would help reduce lumps.When drinking, I noticed that the most prominent flavors were of a slightly bitter "greens powder" and a hint of seaweed. This was followed by the taste of beefy, sweetened chocolate. The scent as I drank it reminded me of the smell of a warm, hearty beef broth. It took me about 15 minutes to finish. The longer the drink sat at room temperature, the more intense the beefy aroma became.I next tried this protein powder for lunch. This time I ignored the mixing directions & used an electric blender to combine it with butter, cream and hazelnut coffee. My intention was to cover the objectionable taste with flavored coffee and good fats. This resulted in a coffee that tasted a bit like a buttery, beef broth with a hint of sweetness.I really love the quality nutrition that I see on the label. I just can't get past the beef, greens and chocolate flavor. I think that the natural flavors of these healthy ingredients would lend themselves to a great tasting, nutritionally enhanced, instant broth mix. If Designs for Health were to release an unflavored, unsweetened version of this mix, I would buy again. I could see using such a product for a convenient, instant sipping broth that is enhanced with quality vitamins & minerals.

I usually order the Designs for Health purepaleo chocolate protein powder. Note that paleocleanse is almost as expensive for half as much product. However, with this company you get what you pay for. This is satisfying, good for my sensitive digestion, and supports regularity in the bathroom. It blends well in the blender (I did not try a shaker bottle). The flavor tastes like chocolate and something else - a fruity or green drink flavor? Tasty but not a pure chocolate milkshake taste (purepaleo tastes like a creamy chocolate milkshake).

I have tried the chocolate and the strawberry vanilla. They both taste horrible but it's a great way to help prepare yourself for the Paleo diet.

Great flavor. Nice change from the vanilla. I add some frozen fruits when I blend it. Yum!
