Great pack for EDC and day hikes, deceptively spacious.
Some people will tell you Maxpedition gear is overpriced, I personally don't believe that. My last Lowepro rucksack was $95 and has lasted me 7 years, is still in excellent condition even though i've basically carried it every day and had it kicked around the car as well. If the Maxpedition lasts me half that time I'll feel it was good value for money.Pro's,Comfortable to carrydual water bottle holders which will hold all but the biggest of containersMolle attachment points for extra specific holders or as I did, a rolly polly. Good for attaching a first aid kit externally.Main compartment is bigger than you would think. holds a lot. List and lots of photos at this link but i'll probably list it all out for you below as well.[...]Good quality stitching and materials used, seems fairly water resistant but if going for a hike I would still recommend a cover. Alternatively you could nikwax it.Good quality zipperszips on main compartment allow the bag to open completely flat for easy packing and accessBlack, I like black.Bungee cord on the bottom will easily hold an umbrella, rain jacket, gloves or anything else you may wish to have quick access too.3 seperate sections are well thought out. Admin secion has an adequate amount of space for pens, notebooks and a key keeper as well.Grab handle on top is well connected, feels sturdy enough to lift a considerable weight.Rubberised section on the bottom so no fear of getting the bag soaked inside if you set it on a wet patch of ground.Excellent size for aircraft carry on.Narrow profile for walking in crowds, doesn't catch on trees and bushes when out hiking.Doesn't look TOO tactical, not a bad thing if you don't want to attract attention.ConsMay be too small for a weekend hike, depends how much you carry but anything more than 2 days, I think you'd struggle.Although it has a comfy sternum strap it doesn't have a waist strap which i am used too.Molle points above the bottle holders, why? Anything you attach there will restrict taking the bottles in and out. A minor irritation. I've hung my rollypolly on there for now but when out hiking I will usually attach it to the front pocket molle points or my belt for gathering tinder, storing wet garments on the way back. Here’s a list of what’s in the bag for work. Lunch if I make some……… Tea/coffee/hot chocolate/condiments box MaxPed micro pocket organiser pouch thing Diary Headlamp Led Lenser Flashlight Spare batteries for the above two items. Pens Notepad Fleece gloves Buffs Flask Fizzy drink or aluminium water bottle. Snack bars/choc bars/biscuit bars or similar Some emergency food, not for survival but in case I forget my wallet or lunch, so some noodles and cup a soups with a fork and spoon. Book Hand sanitizer Spare portable usb device charger pack and usb cables Small Vaseline tin Apple headphones (as a hands free kit for driving) Heat spray. Disposable hand warmers.Overall I'm very pleased and that is what matters :)

This pack is a workhorse but not exactly stylish.
This pack sat on my desk for a bit while I considered sending it back.My requirements for this pack were ease of organization, medium size, and ability to blend into an urban environment without looking like a nut job spec ops wannabe, while still being useful as daypack in the Mojave . To my eye, it just looked too militaristic with the MOLLE attachments all over it, even in black. Then a funny thing happened. I started to test it out by packing up my day to day stuff to see how it would work out....and I liked it. I liked it a lot.First, the main clamshell pocket is cavernous even though the pack wears small. There are lots of elastic loops and devices to store smaller items. Best of all, the front pocket is a deep narrow one, allowing my phone, wallet, and notebook to slide in and out easily. I have been using the Maxpedition Fatty organizer for a while, and I now add that to the (inner) pack. For outdoor use, I'll use the MOLLE to hang it on the outside. I also typically carry an iPad mini and a kindle e-reader, which are well protected in the main compartment. The two water bottle holders are both perfect for Nalgenee 32s or other small items, and the tightening cord on each bottle pouch is a great feature. The pack itself is heavier than packs of similar size by other manufacturers. I didn't weigh the pack against others I own. I didn't need to. It's that stout. With that said, even after loading it up with my day to day stuff, it wears very comfortably. I found the straps to be shaped well and padded sufficiently. It comes with a sternum strap which is removable. You want quality? Ruggedness? You've heard the legends about Maxpedition gear. let me add another voice to the chorus. It's all true. This pack is indestructible. The nylon is thick, the zippers are fat, the pack is a beast.Something I would like to have seen is a CCW friendly port on the pack for quick access to a sidearm.I bought mine for 82USD which I was pleased with, even though it dropped to 75USD the very next day. Overall, I'm pleased and very glad I chose not to send it back.

Great pack that will last a lifetime
I use this bag for day hikes. Most recently, I took it on a week-long trip to Hawaii. It was dragged across sharp lava rock, used as a pillow on the beach, and left in the sweltering heat and bright sun for hours on end. It still looks like new, thanks to the great materials that Maxpedition uses for all of their tough gear. This pack has enough space to haul plenty of gear. But if more space is what you are after, attaching extra pouches to the molle webbing is easy to do.My favorite thing about this pack is that it has two water bottle holders. While some people prefer water bladders, I tend to carry bottles. This is one of very few packs from Maxpedition that has this simple feature. My least favorite thing about this bag is panel that rest against your back. Sure, it is very comfortable and padded. But there is no real ventilation in the design. So your back will sweat a bit.

Very sturdy. - Small and light
Pros- Well made. Very sturdy.- Small and light. Easy to move around.- Very comfortable on back.- Easy to adjust shoulder straps.- Wide enough to fit my 15" Lenovo ThinkPad laptop.- Bottom protection.- Unique design.Cons- Lack(not enough) of pockets and organization pockets in admin pocket: you kind of just shove in all stuffs- Too small to carry a jacket or extra clothing in case you need with a laptop or some stuff.- Unique design: my wife hates its bag-head shape. It's roomy than I expected but depending on your need, it will still be too small.

Perfecta

Best small pack ever!
I have been searching for a small backpack for years. The straps are either too small, too big, set too wide or high. I have a 42'' chest, slim-ish build, 6' tall and this is a perfect size. It doesn't sit over the lower back so it can be used for cycling adventures! Build quality is very good.

Mon sac a dos préféré
J'en ai même acheté un second en couleur Wolf grey, c'est mon sac a son préféré. Très bien conçu, l'ouverture totale permet une organisation parfaite. Tout est bien conçu et bien realisé.

Can’t beat it for an 18L pack. Absolutely fantastic.
It’s stellar pack. Super tough material and really well built. It has a near perfect amount of space for a day trip, urbex, edc, and ultra light camping (in other words it’s very versatile). My only complaint is the size of the water bottle pockets on the side. For me they don’t stretch at all, so it’s actuallh pretty tough to get a nalgene in the pouch, let a lone the nesting cup I have for the bottle. However - at the end of the day that’s a really minor issue, and really isn’t worth taking a start off for this five start pack. Absolutely would recommend.
