THERE WAS AN OLD LADY WHO SWALLOWED A FLY!

Illustrated traditional story book.
Not exactly as I remember it, but pretty close! 18 month old granddaughter enjoys the story and pictures. Strongly made and robust.

Not quite what I expected
I like the way the story is represented in the pictures, but I was not happy to find that the words had been changed from the traditional story. The way this version of the story ends is very weak and cannot be sung as is traditional.

Five Stars
A nice take on the old classic. I recommend in conjunction with the other, less sanitised versions.

Children's Book
I intend to use this book with my kindergarten students for Valentine's Day since a rose is a symbolic flower for Valentine's Day. I like how the author writes the story. I like how the illustrator draws the pictures to tell a story. Its amazing to see the engagement in the children and their curiousity start to spark.

NIce pictures but....
...the ending is different to the original story and my daughter who was looking forward to hearing the last punch line (they read it in school) was rather disappointed and hasn't looked at the book again. I can imagine why they changed the ending, but in that case, being oh so politically correct and not wanting to "burden" children with a scary ending backfired and has taken the joy out of the reading experience. I don't blame her for not wanting to read it again.
