Fantastic, Affordable & Compact DAC
I’m a simple man and don’t require much from a DAC. I value simplicity, clean and transparent sound, and reliability. The E50, so far, has excelled in all three areas. I use it exclusively in standalone DAC mode and only interact with it when turning it off. Standby mode is great and the E50 will turn on automatically as soon as I power on my CD player or digital streamer. While the remote is a great addition, I rarely use it which is a huge plus in my book. I’ve used it a few times to quickly switch between to optical and coaxial to see if there’s a difference in sound between my CD player and streamer. Although it’s a light device and feels cheap-ish when picked up, the aluminum casing looks and feels high-quality. There’s no gaudy branding or flashy design flairs, and it pulls off the minimalist aesthetic quite successfully. The screen is bright and easy to read. I just wish the numbers were solid lines. I’m not a fan of the calculator look. But we can’t have it all for $200, so I’ll let it slide. ✅ for simplicity. I’ve been using the internal DACs on either my CD player, digital streamer and powered speakers to listen to CDs or stream lossless music. Compared to those, the E50 is a clear, if moderate, upgrade. It’s not mind-blowingly better. It’s definitely more subtle, but noticeable across the sonic range. Music sounds crisper and more finely tuned. Bass is tighter and more focused in its thump. Vocals, beats, and instruments are very controlled, clinical, and transparent. I’m not the type who wants CD or lossless streaming listening to sound like vinyl. If you are, you may want to consider an R2R DAC. ✅ for sound. I’ve only had the E50 for a few months, so I can’t speak to long-term reliability, but I can say that it’s powered on and stayed on every single time without issue. I love a product that melts into the background and does its job without any fuss. I’ve had issues with different CD players, transports, and streamers in the same time period but never with the E50. Here’s to a few more years of that! ☑️ for reliability. While I don’t have any complaints, I do kind of wish I had started with the E30. I think that would’ve been a clear, if more minimal, upgrade over the internal DACs in my devices and I probably would’ve been content with that purchase. If you have a budget or mid-fi setup, I’d def start with the E30. But for an extra $50, I think the E50 was a pretty choice and value.

Incredible Sound and Value
Topping makes some decent stuff nothing too flashy (until maybe semi recently) that measures near perfect if you care about that kind of thing. To generalize - they are like the Kia, Honda, or maybe Subaru of the HiFi audio hardware world. Very efficient, modern, slim/small-ish, and affordable. This is a very clean/neutral sounding DAC. Paired this with the L50 amp - all my iem's/cans sound great. I like to game with my iem's instead of a headset and use a stand alone mic if I need comms. I'll grab the planars for music mostly streaming Tidal HiFi (not a fan of mqa). I listen to everything besides techno. Makes me feel like I need to commit a crime when I hear that kind of music. Everything I've thrown at it sounds great. Like A-/B+ tier imo especially when you include the price. I really like brass jazz - Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, etc., but you can bump Wu-Tang or go hard with Sevendust and it all sounds great. I bought this along with the L50 amp and Eris 3.5 speakers and sub to plug into my PC. The DAC is powered by USB from the PC. No need to plug in a power brick, but you can if you need to (not included 5v standard plug). Everything was plug and play very easy to install. I like this combo because the Eris speakers/sub use the trs connections and I have everything passing thru the DAC/amp/speakers/sub with tps cables. Looks very clean and I'll prolly never have to update my desktop sound setup ever again. Highly recommend this combo. I gave this 5 stars, but it's not perfect. You can't lose the remote or you can't really use the dac. Things like volume control are only on the remote. Weird, but minor when you factor in the price again. I wish there was a way to display kHz instead of just on power on - another minor complaint. I'm sure there are a couple other very minor things I'm forgetting, but honestly they are trivial concerns for the quality/price. Some of the reviews here are silly comparing the D90 with this, etc. It's like comparing a luxury sports car to a commute car. The D90 is about triple the price of the E50. For $250-300 the E50 is going to be very hard - near impossible to beat. Only other DAC in this price range I would consider is the Geshelli Lab offerings (which are not on Amazon). This DAC is an easy recommend for 90% of people looking for an easy to use HiFi solution. Just remember to peel off that mqa sticker and toss it in the rubbish. The other 10%'ers already know what they need whether it's more features/power/etc. Happy listening.

This Dac is amazing sound complete in my opinion..also you can used unbalance rca out for my amplifier and balance rca trs out at the same time for my headphone..great deal with complete package for this Dac.

Good DAC for mid tier system
Sound is nice with no offensive peaks or brittleness in highs. No sibilance noted Am using on a system with Q Acoustic towers 100wpc solid state amp and WiiM Pro streamer Better than the highly promoted SMSL SU1 on my system. Much better than old Wolfson DAC I had Best feature for me is auto shut off and turn on. The WiiM starts up the power amp through its 12v link. Topping senses signal and comes to life. In practice this means I can be sitting in my living room and AirPlay an Apple Music song. Everything starts up without further intervention. Likewise, th components all go to sleep if I exit music (takes a few seconds to shutdown) So all in all, no complaints
