From a couple weeks usage so far: + Great sound, as loud as I hoped and manages to sound like a surround sound speaker set rather than a single source speaker + Good solid build + Great battery life, around 10 hrs of play time from a single charge + Good bluetooth range, more than a couple rooms despite wall interruptions * FM is kinda wonky to get working, but works great once you manage to find the stations * Doesn't come with an AUX-to-AUX cable to use wire connection from mobile (though the Bluetooth is good enough that this doesn't matter much) - The volume adjustment is annoying to use, long press on the + button, you have to guess how long to press to change volume (instead of changing song, which is the default action for the button), and you have to guess how long to press to get the volume you need. - The mode changes (BT/FM) and power on and off are all loudly declared through voice, instead of having for eg. visual indicators, not great UX - ~~When you've paired one mobile with the Bluetooth, there seems to be no way from the speaker itself to unpair and pair with a different device. So if a family member was using the speaker before, you have to get their mobile and unpair from that device, before you can use the speaker yourself.~~ Update: you can actually do this by long-pressing the Play button, though that doesn't seem to be mentioned in the manual. The UX and the barely-informative manual are the major weak points of this otherwise great product. Overall, it's been a pretty pleasant experience barring a few minor annoyances, and I'm happy with this purchase.

I bought this speaker to use it as an external speaker/microphone for my laptop as the sound output of my laptop is not loud enough. Unfortunately it doesn't serve the purpose and now I'm regretting buying this speaker. While using the speaker in bluetooth mode for online meetings like Zoom or Microsoft Teams the speakers automatically turns off after few minutes even though audio is constantly streamed to the speaker. Even in Aux In mode the microphone of the speaker doesn't work and the opposite person cannot listen to what I'm saying. I opened a support ticket with Portronics and they are saying that their device doesn't support Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet, etc. What is surprising is that when I pair the speakers with my phone via bluetooth everything works properly. But it doesn't work as expected when paired with my laptop. Both my phone and my laptop use the same bluetooth technology to connect and stream output to the speakers. So ideally it should work with my phone as well as my laptop. Unfortunately that's not the case. What makes it even worse is that there is no way to turn off the Auto shutdown feature of the speaker. This makes it completely useless for me as I'm working from home and I have to attend online meetings on a daily basis. The product catalog doesn't mention anything about this shortcoming. Please avoid buying the speaker if you plan to use it for online meetings. Update: Portronics support send me a software update which has disabled the auto-shutdown feature. Now I'm able to use it with Microsoft teams in bluetooth mode however the microphone is not great and the person on the other end finds it difficult to hear me if I'm little away from the speakers.

I have been using it for around 2 weeks now. The speaker is awesome. It takes 2.5-3 hrs to charge full from dead. The buttons are responsive and build quality is good.I will list down some pros and cons: PROS: 1. Speaker is loud . Tried Hip-Hop, Rock, Bollywood songs and they sound crisp and perfect 1. Has Stereo sound under 1800. Most of the other brands provide Mono sound in similar range 2. Good battery life (5-6 hrs) 3. Can play music using pendrive, AUX, radio and of course bluetooth 4. Supports bluetooth 4.2, many speakers in this price range offer 4.0 or 4.1 5. Splash proof, looks and feels premium, Bass is good(the woofer above vibrates on high bass) 6. You can take calls as well CONS: 1. You can only connect to one device at a time 2. Wish it had a rubber hook to carry it easily 3. You need to press and hold the volume button to increase sound. Pressing it once will change the track. 4. Charging cable provided in the box is quite small in length Overall it is a very good product. Keep in mind the money you are paying for it and the features they are giving you. Of course if you are looking to buy speaker for pool parties or a big get together go for JBL, BOSE etc. But if you need it for your home, a small party, car, trek ...it will not disappoint you.

Bought this at the Amazon Sale for INR 1500. I've used it daily since 1.5 months. Coming straight to the point, I'm comparing this with my Portronics Posh 2. POSITIVES: * Upgrading from the Posh 2, obviously the sound is amplified and much fuller. Also since the drivers are not front firing, the sound has more of a surround effect. Stereo separation is noticeable though not very pronounced like a HiFi (obviously.) * Build and finish is premium and the unit is quite heavy giving the impression that it's well built. * Sound is well suited for vocally focused tracks (most Bollywood numbers included) * Bluetooth range in a straight line and without obstructions is 35 meters as checked by me which is quite good. * Battery life is better than my Posh 2. Battery retention is good too. When you check it via your phone, the battery drops in blocks of 10% so don't be alarmed if you see your battery at 70% drop to 60% very quickly. NEGATIVES: * No carry strap or even a provision for one. No eyelet for a lanyard. No carabiner (Posh 2 had an awesome carabiner included with the package) Due to this shortcoming, it's not as easy to lug it around outdoors. * Though it has a passive bass radiator, the bass is not deep. To explain it in simpler terms, you can hear the beats but can't feel them. (False bass). Also as the volume goes up, the sounds do tend to get muddled with the Mids taking over completely. * Not IP certified, which isn't an issue for me but may be for the outdoorsy types. Final thoughts: If you can get it in about 1500 to 1600 go for it as it's quite a good personal speaker. Just don't expect Bose like clarity and Sony like bass... And you shouldn't coz you're only paying a fraction of what the other brands cost.
