This unit is compatible with the Craftsman line of belt driven garage door openers. I believe that the craftsman units are rebranded versions of the Chamberlain's. Specific for my application, the rail extension, belt attachments and wire extensions were all interchangeable. Despite the sparse product description, the extension kit was very complete and included everything I needed to extend the original 7' Craftsman. From memory, the kit included the following: - Extended belt - Rail extensions - Directions/instructions - Belt attachment/hookup hardware - Wire extensions for the door sensors I installed a standard height opener at the same time as this extension kit. The installation was a straightforward process. The opener had enough adjustability to easily compensate for the added length. I was able to follow the instructions that came with the standard kit to set the full open point, full close point and closing force without any issues. I would recommend this product. Despite the marketing material and product description being sparse, the kit was very complete and fit my needs. This allowed me to update my opener without going to an expensive custom solution.

Like all others, the normal doors are 8 foot. So the extensions should come standard. Works great and easy to install, can be done by one self too.

Instructions were fairly clear. Make sure you understand everything before snapping rails together. Once assembled, it will not come apart. This came with almost everything needed. The only thing I had to buy was additional wire and wire staples, which are needed for tall garage door opener installs. This kit works like a charm.

Exact fit worked out perfectly

This is exactly what is says it is. But...here's what I learned; I have a 9-foot plus door and figured I would need a 10-foot extension to match, but since I only open the door 8 feet (and my old opener was set to open that far), the 10-foot extension was too long. After a day of figuring this out and trying to ask the right question of the Chamberlain customer support, I finally ordered the 8-foot extension and everything fell into place. I was able to use some of the existing mounting hardware (from the Genie that I was replacing). Once the track and opener are mounted and all the electrical connections complete, the first step is to set the open and close limits, and I found that with the 8-foot track, I still had a few inches to spare. Amazon accepted the return of the 10-foot extension with no questions asked. Bottom line, I ordered the track that matched how far I wanted the door to open, not the rough measurement of the door. I love the new belt drive vs. my old chain drive and it is as quiet and beautiful as everyone says!

When I tried researching which kit I required and I mistakenly ordered this kit, I assumed that because my door was 8 feet tall, I thought I needed the extra 2 feet was to allow for placement of the motor unit away from the opened door. I also thought that I could combine the rails from the Opener kit and this extension to get the required length I required. I was wrong on both accounts. After assembling to the length I thought I required the belt from the Opener kit was way too short and the belt from this extension kit was way too long. Unlike a Chain door opener where you can remove links to configure the chain to fit a custom application, the belt cannot be adjusted. So I contacted Chamberlain Support for assistance. The way this kit works is, First, yes, it is for doors up to 10 feet tall, but the rails have to be assembled in a specific combination. The combination in order to use this kit is, The front rail (the one with the return wheel) is replaced with the one from this extension kit. Then you use the second rail from the this extension kit and only 3 rails from the Opener kit to complete the assembly. If this is done, the belt will fit. Any other configuration of rails is a no-go. Again, yes, this kit will work with an 8 foot door, all you have to do is adjust the travel to compensate on the opener, but the opener motor is going to be miles away from where you think it should be. If your door is 8 feet tall, the proper kit to buy is the 8 foot extension kit. After finding this out through Chamberlain Support, I bought the 8 foot extension and had a hassle installation. My opener motor is exactly where it needs to be and my 8 foot door opens and closes correctly. The product is good and it is an easy assembly (if you configure the rails correctly). The only reason why I'm posting this is because the description is confusing and it may lead to people ordering the wrong kit. Thank you Amazon for accepting the return of this kit.
