Double the Ducks (MathStart 1)

My kids are "too big" for picture books -- but we keep these Stuart Murphy books around anyway. They set a great foundation for math concepts, and they are fun to read. Double the ducks is one of my favorites -- it is rhythmic and has adorable illustrations. Great for visual learning, auditory learning, and it really teaches the math concept of doubling. Excellent.Your library has Murphy's books, I'm sure -- but it's worth it to buy the ones that your family enjoys, since they will continue to like them well beyond the "picture book" stage. Also (sneaky mom trick) you can have your BIG kids read this to littler siblings or cousins or playmates -- then the big kid becomes the teacher and really learns the concept.

This book is great. I have borrowed it before, and now am glad to have my own copy. I wish I could afford to purchase Murphy's entire works, but I have to be content with piece by piece. Thank you Amazon for your quick shipping and ease of ordering.

I use this book with my Kindergarten class when teaching about doubles. With small rubber ducks and picture cards for the things that get doubled, we have an interactive story/math lesson. The kids loved it and really learned their doubles to 10!

I received the book quickly and in great shape. I ordered several books for my math curriculum at great prices. I'm excited to get started reading them to my class.

This is the first book by Stuart Murphy that I have read to my granddaughter. She loves the counting on every page.

To buy the whole series (we have no libraries where we are!) is very pricey but this is a great book (series) for teaching little children maths concepts.

great story

We have most of the MathStart books. They are simply fantastic! Mr. Murphy has a knack for simplifying the concept for little kids and the illustrations are very striking. We read a new one every week and read it once a day (an idea borrowed from a friend).The books also have some activities that go with the concept.

Book was of good quality as described BUT I was very upset that I deliberately chose to buy all 6 of my books from the same place (despite having to pay more than elsewhere) to then still have to pay 6 different delivery costs as the books arrived in 6 seperate parcels, on various days but from the SAME warehouse..... This is rediculous and bad for the environment with all that cardboard wasted!

ハッキリした色使いとかわいらしいタッチのイラストは大のお気に入り。イラストが好きで購入しましたが、お話も可愛い。彼が忙しい訳・・・それは沢山のアヒルの世話をしているから。本当に可愛い本で私は好きのですが、文字を覚えたて、大文字小文字はゴシックしか読めない・・・・と言う我が家のおちびには難解な本になってしまっています。大人にとっては可愛い個性的なフォントですが・・・ちょっと残念です。１から１0までの数のお話も出てくるので、まずは私が読み聞かせするつもりです。
