When I moved in to a new rental house, I was thrilled! Until I met the palmetto bugs of south carolina. They're big, spooky, and were everywhere outside. I had to get rid of them. I had little sticky traps before and I was changing the traps every few days just from how many of these there were. I began spraying this on my screen porch and immediately sprayed one of the palmettos, and in 10 seconds it flopped on its back dead. So far so good. I started establishing a perimeter around my porch and then slowly expanding the perimeter as I moved outwards. After about 30 minutes of spraying I wasnt even close to being through the bottle but I was satisfied with my coverage. I let it dry for an hour and I was literally amazed. 4 dead palmettos already. And I wasnt terrified of going outside on the porch to just enjoy the outdoors in fear of a giant skittering creature. I then moved to the front door and began spraying there as well, putting down a good perimeter again. I noticed there were no more spiders after a day as well. I've only seen one palmetto since which I chased down with the spray and reinforced my perimeter again about a week after initial application. It most definitely works For me, its worked on stinkbugs, palmetto bugs, ants and spiders. I'm no amazing pest controller and I know there have been some holes in my perimeter but I've just sprayed a little more when I find somewhere I've missed and this stuff has been great! I do need to start in on the source of these palmettos which is the space under my porch (I suspect) and potentially the crawl space under the house which I have no access to. But I can get under the porch with a longer sprayer and I'm confident that by the end of spring, I'll be palmetto free!

We live next to water and we have a parking lot light attached to our home directly next to an upstairs window. Needless to say, we are engaged in a constant battle to keep insects and bugs out of our house and away from our doors and deck. This stuff works like a miracle! When we bought our house, the previous owner had left the place vacant for two years. There were generations of creepy crawlies that had infested the bushes and under the deck. It was impossible to go outside without getting covered in spiders. It took about a year, and I had to strategically apply this stuff around the house in areas where they'd remained deeply hidden, but it worked! We hardly see any bugs or spiders anymore. And we can actually use our deck now! Now, I treat the interior and exterior perimeter, the windows, door frames, and any potential entry points and hiding spots once a year around Fall. And I do just the perimeters again at the start of Spring. We live in a condo with neighbors on each side, and I can tell you the exteriors of our homes look very different! Ours isn't covered roof to foundation in spiderwebs, and we honestly get zero bugs indoors, not even in the basement.

I recently purchased the Ortho Home Defense Insect Killer and have been using it for a short while. While it's still too early to make a definitive judgment, I'm already seeing promising results that warrant a positive review. Fleas and ticks have also become less of an issue for my pets, which is a relief. The long-lasting control claim is something I'm looking forward to witnessing over time. If the product continues to deliver on this front, it will definitely solidify my positive impression. The 1-gallon size is generous and should last for a good amount of time, even with repeated applications. This makes the product a cost-effective solution for indoor and perimeter insect control. While it's too early to provide a final verdict, I'm optimistic about the Ortho Home Defense Insect Killer. If the positive trends I'm seeing continue, I'll certainly consider upgrading this review to a full 5 stars in the future.

One thing I remember my mom using as a kid was ths every year 2 or 3x a yr she was out w her jug and sprayer I was a kid didnt get it now im an adult I grasp it and the one thing my mom cld have gave me was the knowledge of ths product im glad for it lol it's a must where ever I live 2 or 3x a yr whether we got bugs or not ik it works ik how good it is and ik it'll forver be a staple at my home as long as the formula stays the same we will cont being customers thank u ortho for a great product tht does what it says! Yes we even use it outside!

This does what it promises. I haven't had a problem with ants or spiders at all in the house. I only respray after a hard rain around my doors. I bought one of those pump containers, it's easier to use then store for the winter.

UPDATE 5 stars: When my husband first sprayed this we didn’t see ants for a couple days, then they were back – so I assumed this did not work. However, a couple weeks later now we are seeing no ants so it does work, but you have to give it some time to see results. We were excited to think we had finally gotten rid of those pesky ants on our kitchen counter! And we didn’t have any for about 2 days. Then the pesky ants were back! Was a lot of work for minimal results. 👎
