The Project Management Answer Book

Very valuable for all PMs and extremely helpful in preparing for the PMP!
Organized in a very reader-friendly Q&A format, the Project Management Answer Book is a fantastic resource for all project managers. The book covers each knowledge area as defined by PMI's PMP standards sequentially, which also makes it a very powerful study tool for the PMP.Having had the good fortune of being taught by Jeff Furman at NYU on the PMP standards, it is clear to me why this book is so effective: Jeff is tremendously passionate about project management, knowledgeable about the field in general as well as the PMI's standards, and truly dedicated to the art of educating. Jeff's enthusiasm energized our class and it is clearly felt in the book, which reads more like a conversation than it does a textbook. It is also clear that this book is not only written from the point of view of an expert in project management and PMI's material, but from that of an educator who is able to draw from years of teaching experience to focus on topics on which students tend to have questions, and who knows how to make clear the more convoluted subject matter. As a strategy to study for the PMP, I studied this book along with the Andy Crowe, and together they made a powerful study tool. It gave me the opportunity to hear about the subject from two different and complementary angles, both of which are extremely well-written and clear. Both books also contain study and test-taking tips and strategies which proved very helpful. For what it's worth, I passed my PMP on the first try using this strategy-- so I highly recommend it!

Bridge the gap between real world and theory project management!
I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who is studying to take the PMP exam. I just passed my PMP exam this past weekend, and I think this book helped me achieve that. I had studied the PMBOK on my own, and I had taken a wonderful bootcamp course, but this book provided just the alternate source of information that I needed. I highly recommend taking the author's advice and having an alternate study source, whatever that may be. For me, it was this book, and it worked very well.A major factor this book helped me, was that Mr. Furman's writing style is from a experienced PM with "real world" experience, and he was able to bridge the gap many "real world" PM's have when studying for the PMP exam. He was able to put on his "PM hat" and explain why this particular theory or process was valuable. In short it bridged the gap between theory and real world experience.Mr Furman writing style is very easy to read, and is very refreshing after reading the PMBOK for a few hours at a time. I highly recommend this book.

Great resource for PMP Exam
This book has all the key topics, covers topics not covered elsewhere and illuminates with great examples. It is a very handy reference for clarification of all of the key topics. It well organized and has a comprehensive index. It was a key resource in helping me pass the PMP exam on the first attempt with good scores. I have also taken Prof. Furman's course and it was very useful to go back later and get reinforcement of the topics covered in the book. Looking forward to the next edition!

Answer Book format is to the point and an excellent reference book.
A well written, accurate and fantastic book written by an author whose expertise flows throughout the book. Great as a reference book to supplement other books about Project Management. The Answer Book format is helpful and gets straight to the point. Furman's book is filled with "Aha!" moments when complicated concepts are written in a easy to understand style. Good for students, academics and those working as project managers, it is a great book written by an author with a deep understanding of the subject. Many books on Project Management are available and this book is an excellent resource to add alongside any project management title. Job well done.

Integral for PMP Exam Preparation
The Project Management Answer Book is integral for PMP aspirants and experienced professionals. Jeff Furman does a magnificent job of presenting the Project Management framework in a conversational style. There are an abundance of examples of project management methodology with practical application that helped solidify my understanding and PASS the PMP exam.I had the pleasure of taking Jeff's PMP course at New York University. From the moment the class started I could tell he was passionate about Project Management and educating his students. This enthusiasm comes through just as clearly in the PM Answer Book and I highly recommend it!

but all types of project management ideas/theories/concepts not included in the PMBOK that have a good chance of being on the PMP exam
Jeff's book was very helpful in learning not only PMBOK concepts, but all types of project management ideas/theories/concepts not included in the PMBOK that have a good chance of being on the PMP exam. The chapters relate to the PMBOK Guide processes, so it's a handy to reference when you need clarification or another point of view on particular topics. I found the writing style easy to absorb and the real-life examples helpful - highly recommend if you are studying for the PMP exam.

I've had the pleasure of taking Mr. Furman PMP prep class, he is very thorough and use real world examples to bring home his points. This book was an excellent companion book to the PMBOK while studying for the PMP. The question and answer format helps you to think ahead and the material is presented in a fun and easy to digest manner. This book coupled with the PMBOK and Mr. Furman's class really cemented the material I needed to know for the exam and helped me to pass. The book is also excellent as a reference while working on projects.

More than just the PMP exam
This book not only helped me tremendously in studying for the PMP exam, but learning extensively about PMBOK, Project Management Ethics and basic Agile. The book is organized as Q&A, which lets me think through the answers to the questions. The key points for the exam are summarized so well. The exam tips were helpful too. I passed the PMP exam on the first try and look forward to studying further with this book.
