Kneads like a DREAM, Heavy Solid Uncoated Stainless Steel
TLDR: Buy it! It's expensive, but if you are a bread baker, just treat yourself, it's worth it! I got into bread baking at the end of Highschool and the beginning of college. I would bake bread on the weekends when I was home and enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed it so much that I asked for a KitchenAid Artisan for Christmas one year when a local department store was having a door-buster sale with deep discounts (those were the days). Upon the first couple of uses of my new mixer, I was less than impressed with the kneading performance and its inability to incorporate the dry bits from the bottom of the bowl. The hook seemed to mainly mash the dough to the sides of the bowl and the dough would inevitably climb the hook and stop kneading repeatedly. When the hook was kneading it was laboring the motor of the machine horribly and causing the machine to flex the bowl and the mixer groaned and hopped all over the counter and seemed as if it was being damaged. This was so discouraging I resorted just to hand mixing and hand kneading my bread for years and years and the KitchenAid Artisan I wanted so badly for bread making just sat under a towel unused except for the occasional cake or cookie recipe. Recently I had been determined to get my use out of my mixer that I have had now for over a decade that has seen only very occasional use. My first stop was to look at the higher-end KitchenAid Mixers, you will note that they all come with a dough spiral as do all commercial bakery giant floor mixers as well. I looked at a few examples and that was the secret, the spirals push the dough down and knead the dough against the bottom of the bowl, stopping the dough from climbing and catching the dry crumbs in the bottom of the bowl in the process. Since the spiral is also not pushing against the sides of the bowl as hard, it also labors the motors and gears of the mixers much less. Most importantly the spirals kneaded the dough much more effectively and thoroughly, not to mention more quickly. I ordered this and gave it a shot. Wow! My mixer is about to go on active duty for the first time! It kicked but on the batch of dinner rolls, I made today. It was a 3 cups of flour-sized recipe (12 rolls) but it did amazing and I didn't have to stop the machine to scrape or adjust it while needed. I included the video above so you can see that awesome down spiral in action. It washed clean extremely easily, so easy it seems like a waste of space to put it in the dishwasher. It is heavily built of solid stainless steel with a satin finish and no coatings or finishes to flake off which is perfect! It is a darn spendy attachment, but well worth it to be happy with my mixer again. I would recommend this to others and have already done so. This would also make a great gift for a baker in your life.

Pro Results for Amateur Bread Bakers!
I am a horrible baker (like, notoriously so). Like all horrible bakers, I never seem to know when to quit. I overreach. Naturally, I decided to take on making homemade sandwich bread. Because I'm a horrible baker and that's just how we roll. (And also because I have a stand mixer and I felt like I should at least use it.) My first batch of sandwich bread was, surprisingly, NOT horrible. So I decided to keep at it. Each successive loaf got better but they all had one thing in common: they were crumbly and missing that nice, springy texture like store-bought bread. Oh, and I noticed that there were always "bits" left at the bottom of my stand mixer bowl that hadn't been incorporated by the standard Kitchenaid dough hook. So, I did some research on how to solve my texture and bits problem... which led me to this spiral hook. It has changed EVERYTHING. As a horrible baker, I'm unqualified to tell you why or how it works. I just know that it DOES. I no longer have bits left in the bottom of the mixing bowl and my bread now resembles the loaves you can buy in the store. The result has been a nice, springy final product. I can't bake a nice looking cake to save my life but - by gum! - thanks to this I absolutely CAN make bread that people will actually eat (and want to!).

Solid construction but dough climbs it like crazy
Pro’s: Kneads the dough very effectively results are far superior to the stock hook. Doesn’t tear at the dough. You can see it really incorporating air into the dough like if you were hand kneading. Very heavy and solid good construction unlike another hook I tried which was clearly coated and failed on the first use. 3 batches of dough in and no major issues to report. Cons: Biggest downside is dough climbs this hook like there’s no tomorrow. It also isn’t the best at incorporating ingredients I have found dry ingredients at the bottom of the bowl post mixing. Being forced to use lowest speed means it can take a while to mix up the dough. It also puts a lot of load on the mixer due to the shallow angle of the spiral and I may have overstrained the worm gear a bit. Good news for dough climbing is the KneadAce spiral hook shield fits perfectly so that problem can be solved with a little additional investment.

Dough kneading-single loaf/small loaf
I used this new attachment with my Kitchen Aid Artisan which is an older model for my sourdough beer bread (2 loaf). It is a higher HP than current models. I did notice that after the 8 minutes of kneading that my mixer was getting warm. I believe this would work well for a single loaf just not sure about the wear and tear on your mixer over time. It did provide a very tasty 2 loaves of bread!

Excellent tool
Fits precisely on my Artisan Pro. This is the perfect tool to make a pizza or bread dough. The dough is not climbing upwards.

Only use on lowest speed of your kitchen aid.
I threw out my old dough hook because the white enamel finish was chipping off. I didn’t realize when I purchased yet his dough hook that you can only use it on the lowest speed of your Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I’ve decided that is not a problem for me, but it might be for someone.

Buyer review
On my very first use, the it caused my KitchenAid to strip 2 gears, creating a $180 repair. It was too late to return it when we finally used it, so out that money too.

This is a massive step up from the supplied dough hook, pun definitely intended. The doughs that I have tried no longer rise up to the top of the hook as they did with the supplied hook and the entire mixture is incorporated right down to the bowl base without any of the scraping that I had to do before and with minimal cleaning once the dough is done. As it is a massive lump of metal, do not run it past 2, and that might even be too fast. The only problem, a minor one, is that it is a looser fit than the KitchenAid beaters and can come off very easily when trying to clean it or move it in the opposite direction to the mixing direction after mixing, but it will stay securely in place when mixing. I wonder if this might only be a thing if you have the newer type of mixer without the spring/washer to push down on the beater? All in all, It is a worthwhile replacement, no adjustment is required, kneading time is noticeably reduced and the dough seems to be kneaded better and more completely when compared to the supplied hook.

Before this dough hook, I was just a humble human with weak arms and store-bought bread. Now? I’m basically the Yeast Whisperer. This magical piece of metal turned my stand mixer into a gluten-summoning beast. I used it once and suddenly neighbors “just happened to be walking by” as fresh bread aroma wafted from my windows. My sourdough has a fan club. I’ve been called “The Loaf Father.” Someone asked if I trained in Paris. I said no—it’s the hook. Kneading by hand is for peasants. Long live the dough hook.

Bought it as the current Kitchenaid I own does not come with an attachment like it. The default dough hook that came with my Kitchenaid, when mixing the pizza dough, the dough rides up the hook, and would have to scrape the dough off the hook while mixing, all the time. Was almost going to purchase a pizza dough mixer, which would set me back $2000+, but came across this dough hook with high reviews. This dough hook fits like a glove with my Kitchenaid KSM192 Artisan like a glove - and made the dough mixing a much more enjoyable experience. Due to the size of the Kitchenaid (which is 4.7L), the dough hook, probably only allows you to mix a max of 1.5kg size dough, anything larger, you would still need to consider getting a pizza dough mixer for a better/efficient mixing experience. For now, it does the job and does it well. :)

No lo he utilizado pero se va de excelente calidad

Well made solid product which fits the kitchen aid mixer , sadly the motor on the kitchen aid artisan mixer is not adequate to mix dough with this in situ. It probably works well with stronger powered motors
