I use my phone, cameras, and a drink holder on my bikes, all mounted with the 1" ball type mounts. Two things that I don't take off the bike: my phone mount (Quad Lock) and a drink holder (Ram). I've had concerns that these could "walk away" when parking my bike away from home. These double socket arms lock in place - can only be removed with the tool that comes with them. Smart idea! They are solid mounts and I feel the accessories that stay on my bikes are more secure now. I bought two of them - wish I would have known about these previously. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

I got this to mount a GPS unit on my KTM 1290 super adventure. I knew I didn't want the device to move much so the security feature seemed like a nice addition (it later became a pain in the butt.) Once I got my GPS unit mounted and adjusted after much trial and error, I realized that this type of connection is a blessing and a curse. I wanted a clean look without a thumb turn, the security function was a nice add on - but the tool makes it somewhat impractical. I kind of live in fear knowing if I lose this single tool I may be in trouble if I want to ever get the device off (highly likely.) I have since somewhat moved past the above mentioned fear, and stored the tool in a very safe location. I do appreciate the short nature of the connection and its multi adjustability on both ends. It is important to be aware however that the adjustment of both ball sockets' tension is WITHIN the single clamp point that uses the tool. That is how it has to be for this type of setup. I think in the future I may look at other mounting options but if you have something you definitely want locked down this is a great choice. The knurled insides of the clamps make it so any cheap ball or high quality ball will mount perfectly and clamp down nicely.

Very happy with this purchase! While nothing is totally theft proof, this will make it much harder for thieves to get the GPS off my motorcycle. Aluminum construction seems very sturdy. I wish the key was also aluminum. After torquing it down really tight, it seems the plastic key is up to the job.

I feel much better about leaving my bike in public with my GPS base attached to this arm. I'll take my GPS and lock it away, but people stealing mounts and anything they can strip off a vehicle these days...I don't see that happening with this one. Might order more for my other two bikes.

I was twisting and twisting trying to loosen them up to fit over the ball. Then it dawned on me I needed to use the supplied wrench to adjust them. The outer knob just spins. It should be very secure on the scooter. I'd recommend it.
