I got this because I was afraid that my mic arm would damage my Ikea linnmon table top because this table is a very cheap one from Ikea which the inside is made of particle wood, not real wood. This really helps the distribution of the weight on my desk so my mic arm will not sag and my desk would sag as well. I think this would go well with a monitor mount but I only have experience with a mic arm.

If you have a glass desktop, buy it… don’t risk it. I was fortunate enough that my placement of my monitor mount was on top of a piece of wood under the glass, but it does not span end to end, so if I want to place it centered… I would HAVE to use this. I used it anyways, better safe than sorry.

The media could not be loaded. I have a triple monitor setup all connected to my desk. I bought this piece of metal so it can be attached to the metal and protect the desk. I’ve had this set up for about 2 years now and have had no issues.I have a black desk and it blends in well for my setup

Here is an item you didn't think you needed...i didn't think I needed an item like this but for an arm and a monitor what has some combined weight, i would recommend. I don't think I need it but it gives me reassurance that my small table will not crack or break. I was please try surprised how it adds strength and thickness to the table which should make it less prone to warping, stress, and damage. It is inexpensive and minimal. I'm very happy with this item and would recommend for thinner table tops, especially if you plan on adding an arm with a monitor what may have some heft.

I really wanted to put an adjustable arm on my variable height, electric computer desk, but was concerned about breaking the glass top. This metal plate is GREAT, and large enough to distribute the weight across the glass top more evenly, across a larger surface area. I used two wood blocks underneath the glass to come to the bottom of the metal frame, then placed the bottom metal plate that was part of the set, between the clamp plate and the wood. It works fabulously.I am including photos showing a close up of the base of the single arm monitor mount on top of the plate. The top and bottom plates are made of very heavy metal (steel, I think)I would highly recommend this product to anyone with a glass or easily scratched desktop.

When I bought my son a new computer desk I found that the desktop was thinner than my old desk. When I mounted a pair of monitor stands on the desk I was afraid that they would cause the table to crack or break. So I bought a pair of these plates and they spread the weight out on the desktop so that concern is take care of.

I used this to have a little gamer deck in the bedroom and this was perfect!
