Finally a game to rival Baldur's Gate!
It has been many years since I committed to playing a console game. The last ones I did were the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games. And I have been waiting all this time for someone to release an RPG game like those, or like my favorites - Baldur's Gate & Gauntlet. Now, finally, they have! I took a big chance and preordered this at the $50+ price tag. I usually wait until a game drops below $30 before buying because I'm a casual player. I like to play on easy, a few nights a week, to relax. But. I love Norse mythology, and have been wanting to play so I went for it. I love this game! PROS It has an easy setting Female characters don't look ridiculous. Female armor is every bit as ferocious looking as male armor, and so is her attitude. She talks like a Viking warrior. Skills and abilities based upon the god you worship really adds to the story. I'm committed to Loki, so I use dual weapons. The game mechanics work very well. Others have said it's the same engine as Diablo III (which I may buy now). Build up power to launch more powerful attacks, level up by accumulating blood points (by killing enemies), gather loot. All the things I love about rpg. I like the story. It's not overly convoluted, and suits the setting, theme and characters. Most of the levels have puzzles, often built around runes, to add to the fighting and the story. Upgrade your weapons & armor with runes - and you can get runes by competing in Trials of the Gods. I like these a lot. CONS It has some glitches. I started a second character to play, and when I switched to my more advanced character the game tried to start me at the beginning of the story! I had to delete my second character and go back two saves to correct. This was a huge disappointment as I wanted to play a character with a different god, but am afraid to start one. Some of the puzzles are annoying because I only got them through sheer luck, not clues. This could be my weakness, but when I googled I see a lot of others have the same problem. Character inventory is strange - you collect a lot of loot, but it all just gets sold. There is no special aspect to any of it, which is disappointing. Smith & armorer are useless - this may be a bigger con of playing on easy. I pick up much better armor and weapons than the merchants in my village offer. My husband says a lot of games have this problem, though. PRO/CON Part of the game play entails collecting pieces of legendary weapons, like Mjolnir, to "build." I'm not sure how I feel about this one. On the one hand, it's a neat idea and provides another reason to smash every chest, wall and find every hidden alcove. On the other, I'm at level 30 already and have only put together the Priven Shield, which I can't use as a devotee of Loki. Are the other weapons only going to come together at the very end of the story with no opportunity to truly wield them? Overall, despite some cons, I think this game is fantastic. It's a fun RPG world to explore. Highly recommended. UPDATE: I finished the game (on easy level) and found it to be solidly entertaining. I did eventually assemble Mjolnir, and had a some time to use it during the adventure. I liked the game so much, I started a new character on normal. I really hope they do a sequel to this game. Definitely worth the purchase, especially at the newly discounted $30 price tag.

Decent diablo like hack and slash. It won't blow you away or anything imo, just average fun. A decent addition to my x1 library

Game won't start
I bought this two years ago and finally decided to play and it won't even start I made a character and a name and nothing so I closed it out and it's just sitting on the title screen doing nothing, very disappointed 😞 not worth the money if you ask me.
