Better than the Remo Controlled Sound Equivalent.
The Power Center Reverse Dot has a really punchy/popping sound especially in the studio. It sounds deeper than the remo CS in my book. The way the dot is cut underneath is a good reason why. The dot still flexes with the head so it just punches better! The PC also lasts longer and tunes up right away and is good to go.I've been recording drums for 20+ years and I have tried almost every head from Evans, Aquarian, Remo and Attack. Remos sound good but take too long to break in. I've had two Emperors decouple from the hoop twice in the span of three months, and that was it for me. Purist say Evans sound plasticky blah blah blah, it's bull. Evans stay in tune and seat right away and are ready to go in a session.

This is my snare head FOREVER!!!! I've used these heads for 2 years now and what I love the most is the amazing "crack" you get when playing. I tune high and like my snare heads tight. These heads last a long time too. I play shows with my band and we practice 2 times a weeks. It gets played heavily.Another great feature is the amount of time it takes me to tune. Love the 360!! I can have my old head off and the new one on and tuned in under 10 minutes. These heads do not require a lot of time to tune. There is no need to press the center or break any glue. I have received comments from our producer, drummers and fans asking how I have such a nice sounding snare. I use a 14 x 5.5 pearl mahogany snare. If you are hesitant about this head, don't be. You'll be happy with your purchase.

Great for live!
I put this head on my 5 1/2" birch snare that came with my Mapex Meridian kit and its FANTASTIC! I couldn't be happier with the sound. I like my batter head pretty tight and this head holds up to the punishment as well as providing a tasty sound. Nice and poppy with a good snap, but let's enough natural overtones ring out that makes it perfect for live. It cuts through the mix in most situations without being mic'ed, and maintains enough of its own natural reverberations to sit well in the mix. Stays solid with any velocity from ghost notes to fortissimo! I'd say you can't really go wrong.

Flash Back...Ludwig 1970
OK, I did the 300 resonant review without the frills and here goes the batter head.My first impression was a flashback to the Ludwig/Remo 1970's Sound Control heads. Steve Gadd used one on his COB 51/2 x 14 Supraphonic 400 ( I had one). If it sounds lousy it's because you either have a cheap snare or you need a Drum Dial (hint-hint). This has the 360 technology so you get an absolute round solid hoop--its GREAT! Bravo for Evans. Go check out the promo video..http://www.evansdrumheads.com/level360.page?sid=137aadf5-f76d-4cba-b376-3b2303af01bfNow the whine-side review: . A good rock-funky sort of "tonk" with a dry side tonality. Good snare response. Not for heavy rock or some of the bam, bam, bam genres. Has a sprayed coating instead of the etching like the Evans J1? (the jazz head Peter Erskine endorses)--bummer :( Very warm for brushes...a can-all, do-all head.I use it on a Yamaha set for a sizeable orchestra.Great sound and an idiot can tune it (I should know), just buy it and try it!

Great batter head
Replace my ddrum birch snare stock batter head with this Evans batter head. Using this and the Evans 300 snareside head tuned medium high. Makes my 180$ snare sound fantastic. If you can't stand the sound of your stock snare heads, this is a great buy.

Good snare head, prefer the HD.
I have a Slingerland 5.5x14 copper snare that I've used Evans HD heads on for years, 300 hazy on the bottom. Super durable and love the dry crack, warmth, and sensitivity this head provides. They were out at my local drum store when I needed to replace it last time so I decided to try the power center. First and foremost, this head gives MUCH more projection than the HD. Easily 5-10 db. My brother noticed it immediately when we played live next time. Great for that and would definitely recommend it. However due the center having the split X in the middle on the underside, the resonance has increased tremendously, giving that hollow sound. Had to dampen it with a piece of ductape on the underside. Tuning is still easy as with all Evans heads and has held up well over the last month. I will be going back to the HD due the shortened sustain and increased warmth it provides my snare. However, if I needed the increased volume, I would definitely use this!

One of the best
I first bought one of these heads about 3 years ago when our local shop was out of the Remo Controlled Sound heads. This head and the Hazy 300 caused me to eventually switch all my heads over to Evans. Evans products are top notch and I have been thoroughly impressed with all the various heads I have used from them over the last couple of years.I find that the Evans coating lasts much longer than the Remo coating and their heads seem to stay in tune longer for me. I also find that their snare heads seem to retain a little more give/bounce in them over the Remo heads which to me feel a little more rigid/plastic like. The Power Center head has been my main snare head for most of my snare drums. It makes my 70's Acrolite sound amazing and is working well in a Peal Master Works snare I recently purchased. I'm still using a few Remo Ambassador and Emperor heads on a couple other snares but I'm eventually going to try the Evans equivalent and see if there is any noticeable difference.I highly recommend this or any Evans head. Try them out and see for yourself.

Love this drum head.
Helps with a lot of the strange overtones you can get from most snare heads. Has a nice fat sound. Noticeably louder than most heads. And my favorite part is you can find a lot of pleasing overtones when you hit off center. Still sensitive enough to play ghost notes. Just an all around awesome head. Probably better for rock or funk or anything with a big back beat. But use it for whatever music you play its definitely worth the buy.
