McDermott Classic Pool Cue Kit

I have had this stick for a few months now. I enjoy shooting with it, but have two comments/questions.Is there a technical advantage to why McDermott uses only wood threaded receiver instead of metal sleeved threading. Given I bought a trusted US brand, even though this is an entry level stick, I don't think it was just for cheapness. I was a bit concerned how it would hold up to constant assembly and breakdown but so far, always a tight fit (used daily 4 days a week).My other comment is that after about 2 months of use, I started noticing miscues on draw/english shots, to discover that the tip was very hard/dry. I have ordered new 'soft' tips to remedy that, but surprised how quickly the tip dried (I store stick in case always, and regularly scuff/shape tip, and chalk on most every shot).

First stick I've bought in over 20 years. It's not the 500$ McDermott I shot with back then. But you cant beat the price for a quality cue. Are there better and more expensive out there ? Always. But I'm brand loyal. If you are looking for a great stick to start out on with a low price, this is the one. Would buy it again if I had to. Just trying to get back into regular shooting and this thing does the job.

Had this stick more than six months now. Excellent stick at a very good price. There is a lot of snobbery in the pool world, people thinking the more expensive the stick, they better a pool player they will become. Not true. This stick does the job.

Ordered two 21oz sticks (one for me, and one for my friend) after a few hours play I can say these sticks are nice for the price. They have good balance and we have better control over our shots. The tips aren't the best, but those can be replaced very easy and cheap. The cases are nice (for a soft case) and having extra chalk and a scuffer is great too. Very satisfied.

Cue looks great and has good balance. Ended up being 19.8 oz. The only problem waa the tip. Even after shaping,scoring, and shaping again it was hard as concrete which led to miscues on difficult shots. Replaced tip and now it's 5 stars.

Good fit and finish, everyone enjoys using it

The bag is very nice I thought it would be cheaper made. Stick is very nice looking, great starter stick. Awesome complete set. Only dislike was my stick had a slight ding can't figure out how that would happen when it's in a case in the the box but what can you expect when you don't pick it out in person.
