I took up bowling with clothesline rope. ;)
This item was purchased for making coiled and stitched bowls and coasters. It coils and stitches easily with a standard domestic sewing machine and makes sturdy items that hold their shape, not floppy like some I have seen at craft shows. The clothesline rope is the perfect thickness for stitching with the average sewing machine. I am using a zig-zag model from the 70's. I am enjoying the craft and highly recommend this rope product for bowls, mats, and coasters.

Bought for DIY use
I had purchased this for making baskets. It was fine. Not as white as I had hoped but not objectionable. So I ordered it again. This time I order 3 skeins. One of the skeins had grease smudges throughout the length. A second had places that the weave was irregular with clumps of thread knotted. The only way I could use either skein was to cover the cord with fabric to hide the problems. Purchasing in the future will be hit or miss. My rating is not because it is not strong, easy to use, or stretchy. It was because it was dirty and not woven well and would no make a good finished product.
