It works!
I was skeptical about this based on the reviews, but I turned out to be pleasantly surprised. I tried it with just one section (not the extension) and easily picked up half a dozen small critters. It is not powerful, but the plastic nozzle that narrows at the end helps with that. I am not sure how well it will work on large bugs, but I wanted something to help with these little half inch long flying bugs especially when they are high up on a wall and this does the trick! I'm also not sure how well it would work for kids temporarily catching and releasing bugs because they might be harmed (the bugs, not the kids!), but it's probably fine for sturdier bugs if they turn the switch off immediately when it's in the tube. I wouldn't try it on something with delicate legs or wings. But I only need to use it to rid my house of pesky flying things and for that it works like a charm!

Terrible Product-Doesn't Work
I wouldn't give this item any stars! It has only one purpose-to vacuum bugs, and it couldn't do that. The suction of this product was so weak that even when I placed it directly ON the insect, it did NOT suck it up! I had to go get a paper towel and squash the bug myself. That was what I hoped to avoid by purchasing this. I wish I had not purchased it, and I feel that I wasted my money. If you are considering buying this, don't do it!

Dont laugh.
I did laugh when I opened package. Its really cheaply made. Put battery in and turned on. Didnt seem like much suction. All i know was I wrong. Its sucks up flys big time, and its easy to empty. Cheap but it works!!

Long reach, good for ceiling bug removal
We have an original yellow model and purchased the blue one because of its longer length. Both work great but the blue one has a tapered removable nozzle that increases air flow speed to help grab larger insects. Make sure to use a good brand of 9V battery, Duracell or Energizer, for best results. I accidentally misplaced and lost the tapered nozzle, which I really liked. I called the company and they were able to help me out getting a replacementReally nice folks and very helpful!!

Not much suction
This is a cool gadget if you're looking to suck in very small insects, but for the amount of spiders and bees we get inside our lakehouse, we need more suction!

Works but not heavy duty
With the summer, and the dogs in and out of the house all day, there's always bugs inside, hoards of gnats fit through the window screens. This bug vac is much easier and less messy than the flyswatter. Not sure how long the battery will last, but I did buy Energizer Max 9v. I use the turbo tip when there's a bunch of bugs I need to catch. The tube cap doesn't fit the turbo tip, but I cover it with my thumb moving from bug to bug. It would have been useful to have a cap to fit the turbo tip. Also a tether between the tube and the cap so I don't drop it or lose it. The black battery cap kept falling off. It just slides into place, so I had to tape it closed. The battery cap should lock into place. To empty it without bugs flying out, I stuck the tip down into a baggie, and tapped the sides until the bugs fell out. Decent, if a bit pricey, especially with the cost of batteries, but worth the ease of use and efficiency. If it lasts.Haven't tried it on larger flies. Hope the suction will be up to the challenge.August 17 update. Killed the motor. It's meant for occasional bugs. Not for summer swarms. Regular flies don't get sucked in.

A gentle way to remove spiders and bugs
The vacuum power is gentle enough to suck spiders into the tube without hurting them. This is important to be able to release them outside unharmed. But it would be a design improvement if they offered two settings -- one setting being a more powerful suction to pick up heavier bugs. This is a great product and has made my spider catching much easier.

Not much help
Very little suction. Opening is pretty small to try to trap a moving spider with. Even after I manage to trap one, the suction is so weak it won't pull anything in. I have another similar device that is probably 8 years old. It still works great and has a completely different design. Unfortunately, I can no longer find where to buy something like it. I wanted to have a back up for when my old one wears out. However, this one us pretty useless.
