A Fun Look at a Great Store
A nostalgic look back at one of the great stores of not just Chicago, but the entire country. I gave this to my friend , who is a native Chicagoan , for Christmas and he loved it. Lots of pictures which depict shopping in a simpler time.

It is filled with terrific historical pictures and brief narratives on each picture
If you have any interest in Marshall Fields this is the book for you. It is filled with terrific historical pictures and brief narratives on each picture. I found the book to be very accurate and informative. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book.

Disappointed
I guess I'm not seeing what everyone else has. The print on a lot of the pictures was too small. Not one color picture in the book. Without color the grandeur of the store is completely missed. I grew up in Chicago. My father worked the loading docks after the war. I was just disappointed. Sorry 😞

Childhood memories!
Excellent! My dad worked for Fields during the years I was old enough to travel by train from Wheaton to Chicago, about age ten to when I graduated from high school (1962). I would go in on Saturday mornings when my dad worked half days and prowl the store till noon when he would take me up to the twelth floor employees' cafeteria for lunch, then head home with him. The ninth floor, where they had all the toys and especially the huge Lionel and American Flyer train layouts, and the fourth floor book store were my favorites. A great many of my favorite times with my dad are linked to Marshall Fields, and Ms. Goddard's book has brought them all back. Thanks, Leslie!

Brings Back Many Memories
I grew up in Chicago when Marshall Field's was THE place to shop. I recall walking into the store in awe at Chistmas, especially. All our really "special occasion" clothes came from Marshall Field's and their "blouse bar" was the best place to find a huge array of choices. This book says it all.
