Great Pipe- much bigger than it looks!
I received this pipe a few days after ordering it. I was attracted by the slender profile, and the positive reviews. I own a really stout Savinelli 302 EX smooth. It is my go-to pipe for long smokes, having a very large bowl. When I unboxed this pipe, my initial impression was "wow- this is smaller than I expected". I was thrown by how light and slender it is, and thought that maybe it would be a smaller pipe dedicated to quicker smokes. I promptly packed it and lit up. Savinelli has a carbonized bowl coating, and after slowly breaking in a few similar pipes, I've since moved to just filling to the top and smoking new pipes that have a bowl coating. I have not had any issues with pipes being improperly broken in using this method. Anyway, while the pipe appears to be small due to its slender profile and light weight, the bowl is really good sized, and it gives a nice long smoke. Some reviewers mentioned the thin walls heating up easily. I haven't had an issue with that, sticking with my preferred English and Balkan blends. The draw is great. I have never used the balsa filter before, but since it came with one, I gave it a try. I can see how it would reduce gurgle. I ordered a 20 pack of filters I plan on using with blends that tend to smoke wet, and will skip the filter a good amount of the time. In conclusion, a really elegant, well engineered pipe for under $100. Highly recommended. My only lingering question is whether I should have ordered the rusticated instead. The smooth finish is beautiful, revealing a nicely burled grain, but I may have to round out the Bing's Favorite collection with the rusticated next!

Just What I Was Looking For
I love this pipe. Like most pipe smokers, I was looking for a pipe that would smoke just a little cooler. I have tried different pipe tobaccos and finally realized that maybe, just maybe, it was my smoking style and the quality of the pipes I was using. I have always been a fan of Bing Crosby and so this pipe, dedicated to his memory, sparked my curiosity. So many of the straight stem pipes I own have a short normal length stem. this pipe is longer but not quite as long as my church wardens. A church warden in your pocket, as a daily carry, is just looking for a broken stem and strange looks when you light up in public. The Bing's Favorite is small enough to carry and does offer a cooler smoke. Yes, I clanged my style a little but this outstanding pipe does offer a cooler smoke and forces me to slow down an relax to enjoy the peace associated with a good pipe. I am very pleased and it has become my favorite pipe. I recommend it very highly. It will get hot but only if you rush it and forget that smoking a pipe is something to enjoy and relax with. I still like my church wardens in the evening sitting outside watching the sunset, but because of the Bing's I now take my time the pipe does not leave me with mouth bite. It maybe style only, but, I will always give credit to the Bing's Favorite as the source of a cooler and more enjoyable pipe experience.

Top qulity a winner.
Savinelli Bing's Rusticated Finish represents the quality this company delivers. Hand craftsmen at their finest. I've purchased many pipes over the years. Savinelli pipes have a quality filter system which can take either the triangler or circular filters. They smoke cleanly with little drawing required. Balance is the high degree. There are many good companies but Savinelli is one of the top contenters. You cann't go wrong.

You'll love it!
This is a fabulously enjoyable smoking pipe. Perfect size, shape, stem, bowl, and smokes like a dream. Bing could have smoked any pipe in the universe....he picked this shape to enjoy and you'll know why once you hold it and smoke it. You can enjoy this pipe while doing nothing but relaxing, and you can enjoy this pipe while playing a competitive round of golf with friends. If it could open a can of beans the company would not be able to keep up with the orders. I really love and enjoy this pipe, and if you are thinking about getting one I cannot believe you won't enjoy it immensely. If you are a piper you'll love it. It's nimble and light, easy to clench, and easy to carry. My other Savinelli's are smooth but I really like the rusticated brownblast in this model. To each their own and the pipe is a just a beautiful and great smoker.

Victory for the short church warden
Initial impression: I am very impressed with the ability of short church wardens to provide a cool dry smoke even without a filter. This is my second one after Ginger's Favorite. I find Bing's Favorite to have a bit better airflow even with a filter in it. Also it breaks down so small that it is easy to carry with you. It is thin and could be a bit flimsy though so makybe take care if it is in a pocket rather than a purse or something similar. With most pipes I some times need to hold them by the stem depending on what I am smoking because of the heat. With this pipe I am Always holding it by the stem because of the heat. The bowl is just to thin. It is a great pipe and I really am glad I picked one up. Now I just wish I had one for my house and for my purse away from home...danger Will Robinson, hahaha.

This one smokes cool and dry with a good draw. It is a great smoker; but it will heat up if you rush it.
