This is by far the best book on automotive technology I have found . Want to know about balancing? In depth theory and practice for all possible designs from singles to v-12's. Diesel injector pumps to ignition distributor design. This book goes into serious study of everything. Theres 30 pages on intercoolers. If you are interested in building high performance gas engines or diesel engines or single cylinder motorcycle engines, you need this book. It is terrific.

Very good figures and simple explanation for complex mechanisms.

Showing its age, but still a useful reference.

I have not had time to read the whole book, but I have used it to study some specific topics and found it to be very comprehensive. It has a highly practical though, mainly, non-mathematical approach. As with Heinz Heisler's other books, the level of detail is amazing, with excellent, clear diagrams, graphs and descriptions. I am finding it easy to understand and a pleasure to read. This is a big book (794 pages), but it is definitely a superb reference document!
