SAW WHAT YOU SEE! Tackle those hard-to-reach branches with ease. The Sun Joe SWJ803E electric pole chain saw takes the danger and difficulty out of trimming your overgrown trees. Stand safely on solid ground and simply adjust SWJ803E’s telescoping pole to gain up to 15 feet of overhead reach. Powered by a robust 8-amp motor, the SWJ803E’s multi-angle head can handle the most stubborn tree limbs up to 9.5-inches thick. It features a durable, 10-inch Oregon bar and chain with an auto-oiler to keep the bar and chain fully lubricated during use. Unlike gas-powered tools, SWJ803E is powered electrically, so you’ll reliably power up with the push of a button without having to deal with smoke, fumes, unpredictable starters or costly tune-ups. Plus the SWJ803E comes equipped with a built-in safety switch to prevent accidental starting.

Nothing but a hassle
This saw showed promise, but it was short lived. It cuts well, was easy to extend, and adjust the saw angle (which is why I gave it two stars instead of one). It was a bit finicky and needed constant adjustment both to tighten the chain (expected), but also to keep the cover in place (not expected). After using the saw the second time, though, I noticed it wasn’t working. I had been cutting a bunch of small limbs that shouldn’t have been a chore for the machine, but it seemed like it was running hot. After finishing, I prepped it for storage, which includes topping off the bar oil. The reservoir was completely full, the chain was not getting lubrication during use. I removed the chain and cover, cleaned everything leaving it like it was new, even emptied and refilled the oil reservoir with new oil in case sediment had somehow got inside. However, the chain still won’t lubricator while in use, which means it’s both unsafe to use and would further damage the machine if I did.Whatever, sometimes things don’t work. Since tree branches don’t grow very fast, I didn’t discover it wasn’t working right until after the 30-day return passed. (It worked fine the first time I used it.). The manual states on the cover, in bold, “Do not return to the manufacturer,” continuing, “Please contact us via email ... We will very happy to assist you.” [sic]. I sent not one but multiple emails to Home and Power Customer Care. I’ve never heard back. It’s now been just over six months since I received my faulty machine and after months of trying, have never had a response. It was a hassle to get as they sent the wrong color originally (hot pink camo instead of grey). I’ve spent more time trying to get the machine I ordered and trying to get it to work right than I’ve spent using it. I’ve used it twice but can’t use it again. It was not worth the price, at all. Spend more to buy a tested and reliable name brand with responsive customer service.

works great since I got my replacement
So originally I received with a bad chain, it didn't fit in the bar despite looking new otherwise. Some of the links on the chainsaw chain were wider than the grove in the bar so it would not go in, rendering the chainsaw useless without obtaining a new chain. unfortunately there was no option to contact the seller or leave seller feedback at all, making it difficult to remedy what would otherwise be a simple issue with the product. So I began the replacement process and received another chainsaw which came with a good chain.Since I have been able to trim an Oak that was becoming a problem. Also got some branches down on a maple that were pretty thick, maybe 6-8" thick. Has worked great, and actually cuts better than a larger 16" electric chainsaw I have.So since getting a good product, I've edited my review. Would definitely recommend. Although it doesn't actually give me a 9ft reach like I was hoping, I'd have to use a ladder for some of the trimming I need to do. I was hoping to avoid that, but have been able to clean a lot up.UPDATE: just a few days over being exactly One Year since purhaseIt ran fine last time I used it. This weekend I was cutting a branch and the motor started to sound odd and smoking so I stopped. The oil was still good, I checked before I started. So I cleaned out any saw dust clumped around the blade under the plastic. Went to plug it back in, and it hasn't turned back on since. So even though it was a great tool, it hardly lasted a year and that's with rare use. Besides the first month I got it to do some trimming, it's been stored.I Would recommend it, BUT Definitely GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. It may not last long, so at least you'll be covered.

Great Saw - buy one!!
The refurbished product was basically brand new except that you could tell the chain had been used, but it was not worn at all - in new condition. I have only used the saw for a couple of hours but so far it is an excellent tool. Exactly as advertised. I would definitely recommend purchasing the refurbished tool for the cost savings. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the Amazon ad for the product says the refurbished saw is warranted for 1 year by Snow Joe but the literature I received with the saw says it is only warranted for 30 days and not by Snow Joe but by the company that refurbished it. I have asked about this and if that is rectified I will revise the rating to 5 stars.

Refurbished, carefully check chain before use
I feel they could have been more upfront about this red (ordered green, not a big deal) pole saw being refurbished. I did get a refund of around $20 but then found that it's missing teeth on the chain so I guess most of that refund will go towards buying a new chain. On the plus side it does work, it works well and hopefully you have a better buying experience

Good price, leaks a small amount of oil over time
Good price, leaks a small amount of oil over time, but works really great and I would but it again.

Works great
Works great now. It was shipped with the wrong size chain, but I was able to contact the Customer service department of the sales company and get the correct size. Once I received and assembled the unit it worked great. YES I did remember to put oil in the chain oil tank. This worked well at full extension, but is a little heavy. overall it was a great buy.

Works well but documentation did not exactly address the design of my pole saw.
Works well. Instructions said to use enclosed wrench to tighten retaining bolt, but there was no wrench nor a retaining bolt. Appears the new design had a retaining cap that can only be hand tightened. Unfortunately, the hand tightened cap worked itself loose while cutting, resulting in a loose bar and chain. But the 10" chain cut the trunk of a nine inch wide avocado tree like butter.

Works great for occasional use
Works great for occasional use. I have a few trees that need pruning every couple of years. Got the refurbished model for a reduced price. It will pay for itself after a few days use vs renting one everytime I need it. This is a short term review of product.

Worth it
Works well for me but little branches constantly get stuck in between the blade and the plastic case. Still very happy with it
