The perfect countertop option!
This little countertop composter is perfect, I just had to write a review. I have a large composter outside but needed a convenient option to gather kitchen waste for 2-3 days at a time - so I was not looking for this unit to stay full and “compost” on the countertop. This product is just perfect - it’s large enough to be useful but small enough and a sleek design, making it easy to incorporate into kitchen decor. I haven’t noted any smell or fruit flies, I’m sure it could last longer but I like to keep it dumping into my main composter. The best feature is when I’m cutting a big salad or melon on the island, you can simply pull the inner bucket and position it closer to your work area. The same for emptying it - just grab it by the handle to dump and then I typically rinse it in the sink and pop it back in the ceramic base. It is very easy to keep clean. I keep it right next to the sink to remind me to use it instead of the garbage disposal. Take note of the size of this unit if your needs are similar to mine - most units are MUCH larger but I didn’t want to sacrifice that much counter space or keep something with a large quantity of rotting food in it around for that long. The main base “shell” is white ceramic and feels very sturdy, inside is a plastic bucket liner with a metal handle. The lid is a hard plastic with the charcoal filter in the top. The green leaf handle was a little tricky to get to “snap” in but once you get it in correctly, it’s very sturdy.

Fantastic!
I bought this compost bin to replace the one that my old roommate took with her--which was more like a simple ceramic covered dish. I also didn't replace it right away and was using an uncovered plastic bowl in the interim. This blows both of them out of the water in terms of counter space/capacity, attractiveness, odor control, and general awesomeness. 1. Takes up less counter space/more height/capacity: A tradeoff I will take, as the inner bucket alone is about 9", which is a great size for what it is intended to do--hold scraps of compost until you bring it out to wherever your main composting pile/bin is. My new roommate and I both use it, and depending on how much we cook, we fill it up once a week or less. 2. Attractiveness: Although the previous ceramic dish was decorative, it doesn't hold a candle to the sleek and smooth design this possesses. The outer container is white ceramic, and the inner bucket (same color as the plastic "sprout") is plastic as is the lid. The bucket is designed to come to rest slightly elevated from the ceramic so that the collapsible metal handle is easily accessible, and the ceramic itself stays cleaner. The lid covers any visible bucket, and since it is also plastic, you don't have to worry about chips or breaks when it touches the ceramic body. The plastic also allows a proper seal so that the only airflow is through the top of the lid where the charcoal filter rests. 3. Speaking of charcoal filters and smooth segues; Odor control: The item comes with two filters; one for backup and one for immediate use. So far it is astonishingly great at keeping odors at bay. We have so far emptied the crock a week at at time, and our main compost does not take any animal products (except for eggshells), so we do not have putrid meat in there. Again, this is meant to save trips to the compost bin outside. 4. General awesomeness: I want to hug this product every time I walk into my kitchen and see it.

So nice.
I really love this little container. It doesn's hold a ton of material but also doesn't take up a huge amount of space which is good. And these are not really made for big hunks of food anyway, just scraps so that's fine with me. It has a little inner leafy green pail with handle in case you want to bring the whole thing out to the bin with you instead of just the bag of stuff. This also keeps the inside clean. When you put a bag in you can fold it over the edge of the inner pail so that when the lid is on the bag is not visible. The little sprout handle works great for one handed opening and has a charcoal filter in the lid. Have never noticed an odor so far. The quality is great. The body is really thick heavy ceramic, which I love. I think the thickness causes it to be at lower than room temp, which probably helps with smells too. It is somewhat vase shaped and oval so that it has a wider face, or turned a little, a thinner face for choice with counter storage space. Perfect smooth, shiny, clean looking white, with an easily cleanable surface like a dinner plate. And it's cute, but not too cutesy. Very happy with it and would definitely recommend.

Almost perfect compost pail
After finding out compostable bags have microplastics in them and aren't really compostable I went looking for something that I could put food scraps directly in. This ticked all the boxes. The ceramic outer portion isn't going to rust (unlike our last metal compost bin), the inner liner is simply to remove and easy to clean, and the leaf handle is surprisingly effective while still being visually appealing. The one downside is the handle. When you pull out the inner liner and dump it, the handle hangs directly in the way of the food that you're dumping out of it. You can hold the handle back up against the lip but it's an awkward thing to hold - especially if you're trying to smack the bin against the side of your yard waste bin to dislodge everything. It mostly just coats that handle in food waste which isn't great. Other than that it's been wonderful. It's a minor ding and this is by far better than anything else I've found so if you're looking for a compost bin I'd recommend this one.

Merry Christmas to Me!
I have been wanting a compost bin for my counter for a long time and looked high and low before buying this one. I love that the lid keeps in the stink but also allows air to circulate so as to prevent anaerobic decomposition. I also love that I can remove the lid easily with a single hand, which is so much easier than one that requires you to hold on to the bottom while taking off the lid. The interior bucket is GENIUS! It's a nice shiny plastic that washes clean very easily and has a very handy handle that makes carrying and dumping A BREEZE. The ceramic exterior is heavy, so you don't really have to worry about accidentally knocking it over while taking out the bucket. Additionally, the top is wide enough that you don't have to worry about stuff falling over the side when you are trying to fill it up. The materials on this are all easy to clean, and because it's not made of stainless I don't have to worry about rust. It is also designed with no nooks or crannies to catch yuckiness, which I understand is a problem with many other compost bins. Oh, and this compost bin is attractive! It is sleek AND unobtrusive... while you don't want an ugly compost bin, you also don't want one that screams for company to look at the food garbage you are storing on you countertop. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this bin, and (should anything unfortunate happen to this one) I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Love It!
Was shopping around for a countertop container to hold our kitchen scraps until we're able to take them downstairs and across the yard to our composter and this stood out to me. It was on the higher end of my price range but there were a few perks that I think made it totally worth it. First, it has an interior plastic bucket - with handle - that fits well within the outside shell. The outside shell is ceramic and easy to wipe clean if need be. The lid is plastic which I prefer; it will not as easily chip or break, especially when setting it on top of the ceramic shell. The carbon filter seems to be working well, we have not had an issue with smell or fruit flies. The size is just about right for the two of us, we need to empty it every few days but rarely with a sense of urgency. The biggest selling feature though (I must admit) was how CUTE it is! Even my boyfriend commented that it was a nice look to leave out on the countertop: Clear as to what it is without looking so much like a miniature garbage pail. I would buy it again or recommend it in a heartbeat.

Counter Art!
This is a lovely ceramic compost bin. You would never know it because it is well designed and just looks like a storage container on my kitchen counter. It has some weight to it so it can not be knocked over. But it is not so heavy for cleaning and moving around if you need. I love the dark lid with the leafy handle on top. I would prefer it were made from ceramic as well, but the plastic is light, easy to handle and decorative as designed. The interior waste bucket fits nicely inside and does not interfere with the lid on top. There is a piece of charcoal-like filter in the lid with small holes on top to allow air circulation but no foul smells have been even hinted at since I started using it. Cleaning is a breeze. Excellent quality for the price!

Used it for a Chicken Scrap Bucket Container, NOT a composter
I was looking for something attractive to put in my kitchen to add food scraps to on a daily basis so that we could easily feed those scraps to our chickens. I really didn't want a vent hole or anything that would attract bugs, but I had a really had time finding anything! However, this works pretty great for my purposes. I love the fact that the bucket inside is easily removable and cleanable. The container itself is also very cute. I haven't had any issues so far with smells or bugs. If I do, I plan to tape off the holes. That being said, we dump this bucket to our chickens every day so nothing really has a chance to ferment. We put anything in there that a chicken could eat including meat bits. I have not used this as a compost bucket, because in our life, everything goes to the chickens first....and then the compost second lol
