Trial run shows promise! Thrilled with the results! - candy melt decorations for cupcakes
I single handedly put together a bake sale last week and piping out the melted candy melts was a nightmare. All of my leaves broke! I started looking for silicone molds that would make my life much easier. I searched for a mold that would be a decent sized scale for cupcakes (after all a 3x5 inch leaf would look ridiculous as a topper on a cupcake). I had less than five minutes to put this puppy through a trial run on a quick work break. I used the back of a knife to clear the back as much as possible and to make sure the crevices were full. The mold went into the fridge where I promptly forgot about it. I pulled it out after approximately an hour and popped the leaves right out!I will say that the larger leaves did crumble a bit, but I feel as though this was used error. I believe that I quite possibly scraped out too much of the melted candy melts which ruined the integrity of the leaf structure. I loved clean up, I just ran the mold under hot water to wash out the residual candy melt pieces. I was primarily looking for the outer shape of a leaf, so the details were a bonus.

Wax breaks easily
I really wanted to love this. I thought the leaves were going to be bigger and deeper. They’re small and so thin that my soy wax breaks very easily. Could just be that it’s not meant for candle wax.

Alright
Some of the leaves were so think the mold didn’t take all the pattern.

Tiny & very fragile
I understand there are measurements around the pictures. But the pictures showed no perspective. I assumed I was mis-reading the size. I you take a penny, nickel & dime out of your pocket you will have an idea. The nickel... maybe not that thick. Placing a coin in a picture would make a more realistic feeling of the size.Be VERY CAREFUL removing from the mold. They're very fragile. I see where more Advanced users made beautiful use of the leaves. Remember these aren't for making pieces of candy as most would assume.

Difficult to use for a beginner/intermediate baker
I had a lot of trouble using this mold because of its small size. I tried both fondant and gum paste and found it very difficult to remove the leaves even after using a generous amount of corn starch. Perhaps with chocolate this would be less of an issue. If the mold had been a few inches larger I think it would have been easier to work with. The mold itself is well constructed and the detail is nice. Maybe this works well for more experienced decorators, but for beginner/intermediate bakers I would recommend using a larger mold.

Not maple leaf
Thought this was more of a grape leaf or maple leaf design but looks more like marijuana leaves to me. I have no use for this so threw it in the trash. I zoomed in on the image before purchasing but apparently not close enough
