Worked for refrigerator with flat offset plug. Needed a surge connection for refrigerator.

I needed a surge suppressor for a new computer I just purchased. I did not want to plug the computer into the surge power strip where other electronic devices were connected. This was perfect in providing me a single plug alternative that I can use as isolated surge protection. I love the fact that you can plug this into the bottom of a standard two receptacle plug and still have access to the upper wall plug if you need it. Since this doesn’t have a cord, I don’t have to worry about more wires under my desk. I just plugged my new computer into this, and I’m protected. At 2205 Joules, it is stronger than most of the other strips and wall plugs I’ve seen for sale. This is a great little item at a really good price.

Our previous fridge died due to the compressor seizing. I asked the tech why this happens. I kept it fairly clean so he said it's possible that it underwent electrical shock. Around that time our neighborhood was experiencing power fluctuations due to a bad shared transformer. So, I bought one of these to take the brunt of those changes in case it happens again and I would suggest others do the same. It's well made, has a small profile, easily fits behind the fridge and does its job well. For the money and peace of mind, this is a no-brainer. Could have potentially saved me over $1,000 had I had this installed previously.

Delivery was only one day late. The product is good quality and compact. Would recommend.

Most people have surge protectors for their electronics, but not Refrig/freezer. My compressor blew on a 5-1/2 year old unit with a 5 year warranty. Was going to be $1,600 to replace compressor. I bought a new refrigerator, thinking the electronics boards may have been weakened. (I’m not an electronics expert). Also, bought protectors for family and neighbors. Our houses were built about the same time, same brand appliances. And NO I am not a salesman. Hard to really rate, but no damage. Have given 5 to hopefully get attention and save you money.

I have a bunch of surge suppressors for all my electronic hardware but needed to put one behind the fridge. The big power strip suppressors are just to big and bulky for the linited space back there. I bought this one because it is flush mount and low cost. Installed in about 2 minutes and works OK. Not sure what will happen if I get huge surges, but at least I have something in place. That's what surge suppressors are about; cheap insurance to prevent blowing the power circuits in you expensive appliances.

My purpose for this pair of 1,350 joule surge protectors was to protect my two garage door openers. In the past I have found door opener motors to be sensitive to surges from lightning or other causes, and these are inexpensive protection. A small blue pilot light tells you the protection is working, but you have to take this on faith because there is no reasonable way for the average person to test this. I took off a point only because no marking on the unit itself stated the joule rating (see photo), although the carton stated 1,350.
