Using this with a couple small stepper drivers and it seems great in-service.

I have wanted a variable bench power supply for a few years but never wanted to spend the money on one. When I came across this, I thought it might be fun to assemble my own. You can find already assembled bench top supplies for the price of this unit but that’s not to say that this doesn’t have its own advantages. Specifically, this is 48v and has two outputs. Both of those options are hard to find on a power supply at this price. My experience with the power supply has been good overall but I do have some complaints. First, amps do not display unless it is under load. A bit frustrating to say the least. My other big complaint is that when adjusting the voltage there is a considerable delay between turning the knob and getting the update. The power supply came with a great manual that details all the hole locations on the unit. This will make it very easy to design a 3d printed holder for the unit. If you need a higher voltage variable power supply on a budget or just want the satisfaction of making your own, then this is a good option. Otherwise, I would probably recommend you go with a prefabricated power supply.

This is my second unit. Same issue, packaging is in a light cardboard box and came in a bubble bag but clearly isn't sufficient for transit. The first unit corner was worse, and the DC potentiometer was affected and would not supply a stable voltage. The second unit came damaged as well, but have not fired it up as of the review. The unit itself could be improved for wall mounting by including brackets. Amazon-how about handle with cheer to handle with care!

So far I haven't needed to work this power supply too hard and it's holding up and delivering reliable DC power for my purposes (48v/3A, in my case). I haven't had any overcurrent issues, heat dissipation has been good, and adjusting the voltage is reasonably easy. The meter on the supply is well within 0.1v of my meter, which is close enough for my purposes. I appreciate that the user manual is well-written and easy to understand, and the guard over the live terminals is very appreciated (since the line inputs are right there next to the DC outputs). The terminal strip has dual lugs for V+ and V- output, which makes it easy to use on a workbench and means I don't have to stack connectors under a single screw. The construction of the power supply seems to be quite good. The included crimp spade connectors are a nice bonus. I do need to measure the noise figure and full load capabilities at some point. But, so far, I haven't had any issues that would indicate that AC noise on the outputs is excessive, so I feel safe using it with other equipment.

I like the concept of the product but I ordered one and it didn’t work out of the box and the front corner was bent. So I returned and ordered a second one and the case was totally bent and deformed. It did work but I didn’t trust it for safety reasons and returned that one and did not reorder. The packaging is not protecting the product and when it is something that can cause a fire in your home I’m taking a pass.
