Gouache must buy!
I'm an Illustration student in my final year of study and need good quality paints for projects that will end up becoming part of my portfolio. I've used gouache paints from other brands and found them to be poor quality in comparison to these beauties! The pigments are fantastic and the paint consistency is so smooth. As they should do, you can paint lush opaque blocks of colour or mix with a little water to achieve a softer effect. I've recently started sketching thumbnails with these paints as they are also quick to dry - they look so much better than my coloured pencil roughs. I would recommend these to anyone seriously interested in using gouache, even if a student, as the results will speak for themselves. Even if you're just interested in trying the medium I would suggest purchasing a single tube of Windsor & Newton gouache rather than picking up a cheaper set elsewhere - you won't be disappointed!

Lovely gouache!!
I have been looking for a gouache that I can dry in my empty pans and use as a travel set, only having to take the tube of white with me on the go. This is the first one so far that performs the same (!) smooth and opaque coverage when used from dry, as fresh out of the tube.I love the vibrant colours in this set and its very easy to mix your own colours, the paint doesn’t go lumpy, and mixes very well. There is a little introduction to colour mixing on a glossy printed sheet inside the box as well.I highly recommend this gouache, I’m really impressed by how high the quality of the paint compared to the price is.

a dream to work with
I am amazed at these paints, I was previously using arteza gouache pants but half of those have dried out so i felt like trying these to replace those. I opened these up and the lids are easy to unscrew and crew back on. The tubes are well made. I didn't have to use a lot of paint on my pallet to achieve a LOT of colour. You get a good amount out of a small splodge! the white mixes beautifully with the other colours. I love the bright and matte effect to these. They have a bit of a whiff to them I will say! So keep that in mind if you are sensitive to smells. They dry relatively at a good rate on paper. They go down smooth and just the right amount of water and bam super dreamy!I will say too to buy a big tube of the white on it's own! That's what I intend to do.

which I am glad I used
My first venture into gouache was a very cheap student grade set, which I am glad I used, because I can see the big difference between those chalky colours and these vibrant ones. these colours pop so much and are fantastic for the price. My only negative crticism is that too many of the shades aren't as opaque as I expected. not a big issue, as I know that with gouache you usually get very good at mixing white into your colours to make them more opaque, but I will be looking into other brands and experimenting.great collection of colours nonetheless though.

A good selection of colours, with no problems
It's my first time with gouache (besides using white gouache here and there), but having used winsor and newton watercolours a lot, I thought they might be a good introduction for me. All of the tubes are a good consistency, no separation, and provide me with a great starter palette. They go on thick and bright, so I'm pretty happy with them so far.

Quality Gouche
Gouache is an opaque watercolour medium. The quality of these particulars brand is high in single pigments. The red primary, yellow and permanent yellow are semi opaque (which is the nature of the pigments not the brand). The white also seems to be semi opaque which perhaps works better mixed as other colours layer quite nicely to make more opaque tints. This is why many recommend you buy a large tube of white gouache as you will use a lot! Drys to a nice bright flat colour (hence why there were and still are used in illustration).Once you get used to nature of gouache it lends itself well to working with watercolour. Like all new products its matter of playing with it to see what you can achieve.

Good quality paints
Always a good option for best quality gouache. I bought these as a present and bought an additional white (from another source as this is always the first to be used up.)Windsor and Newton cannot be beaten on quality.
