wonderful laptop, no issues yet
I think I've had this laptop for a couple years now. No problems at all. Good value for the money. I'm not a computer nerd so I don't really have much to compart to. My computer repair man from my last laptop recommended this one to me. It's been great.

Excellent Notebook
Very well built and with an elegant design. Good processor, very fast. Quiet fan operation, cool keeping in palm rest area. I was surprised by the fact that it came with an "HDD Kit" (connectors), to expand the storage capacity with an internal HDD disk (I asked Asus and they replied that a HDD or SSD of up to 1 TB can be installed, to expand the capacity storage). Asus customer service is very good (it comes with MyAsus software that makes communication very easy); is one reason I bought this brand. Two years ago I bought an Asus 13 "Notebook, I had a software problem with the keyboard lighting and in a few messages they guided me on how to solve it, until now I have never had problems again. I sincerely recommend this Notebook.

Poor contrast on keyboard
I've been using my new ASUS VivoBook computer for over a week and have a few comments. First, it's a great computer for those folks who like to work in the dark. The contrast between the silver keys and the lighted characters is poor at best. Key F7 allows four settings for the brightness of the characters, but the brightest one is still too dim. I find it easy to see the keyboard if I work in a dimmed setting. I've owned two ASUS computers previously and both have had excellent keyboard contrast. Why did they change to a poor contrast keyboard? Without this fault I would give it a 5 star rating. This is sold as a portable computer. At five pounds it might be better described as transportable. This computer does NOT have a touch screen as is advertised by Amazon. This is a good screen if you don't like looking at finger prints. Going to ASUS for help sends you to a "paid-for" tech group. This is a helluva way to provide support and ASUS should be ashamed!

Great start up speed
Light weight, great start up speed with SSD drive. Keyboard backlighting good for dim lights but key letters hard to see in medium light. Ability to turn off keyboard backlighting is a plus and actually makes letters easier to see in bright light.

Asus i7-K712EA Laptop.
This is a wonderful Laptop and very much worth the price. The USB2.0 USB's have packed up and is in for repairs but Asus has an extremely excellent backup service worldwide. This remains a wonderful product and would like to thank Amazon and the Seller for selling to South Africa.

Poor product and can't get support when it breaks
My laptop is not even a year old. I used my laptop for my day to day activities such as bills, medication lists, my finances, etc. and play 1 game on Google Chrome. Laptop shut down randomly and was difficult to get it to boot back up, until it finally wouldn't boot up at all. The URL in the product's paperwork for repair has to completed with info I can't provide since I can't boot it up. I bought an extended warranty which won't repair it since it is still under the product's warranty. At 70 years old, I don't know what they expect me to do. I can't use it, can't afford to have someone else repair it, and can't afford to replace it.

love the big screen and track pad adaptability
I have a 15" and a 13" which I have grown to hate. I thought portability would be my most important concern but in reality the quality of the image and readability and the ability to drag various windows on my screen was more important, so I love this 17" monitor. I also love the ability to turn off the track pad or adjust the clickability. The addition of the separate number keypad is great too. Very pleased so far with this laptop. Better than my HP and better than my Dell.

Works well
Bought this for simple tasks such as running windows services, Spotify, Chrome etc. at the office. Intel's new gen processor does a really good job. Happy with the purchase.
