Awe man do I love this compost bin. After years of limping along with a ceramic compost container with a lid that did not fit very well, I decided it was time to upgrade. So I bought a stainless steel compost bin off of amazon and had my dreams shattered by poor build quality. But do not despair. You have found the Brabantia Compost Bin (or whatever you want to use it for). At first I though the lid was going to be annoying. It totally detaches from the container. Well, I was wrong. It is great to just leave the lid in the sink, run out to the compost pile and dump my food waste, and then come back in with the empty container. The whole assembly fits together well which keeps any fouls smells in. It is super easy to clean, and very light (so my kids have no trouble taking out the compost). The capacity is about perfect and it fits so nicely on my counter next to my sink... and the color makes it almost disappear. It seems stupid to be so stoked with a compost bin, but this one is great.

I love the design and ease of use of this bin. I bought the black, which is a nice matte color that looks good in my modern white kitchen. I like the shape, which is squat and long, and makes it easy to scrape plates or dump in big handfuls of scraps. I like how the lid just stands upright when open, not swinging back too far. Mine didn't come with any bags, so i'll have to buy some, but its fine without them as well, you just have to wash it out between uses. The top part does separate a little too easily from the base, so sometimes i knock it off, but i like how easy it is to just lift the lid up. I haven't yet used it in the summer so i can't say if it will keep out the fruit flies, but none of my other compost bins have, so I don't expect this will either.

I ordered this because it looked like the best compost bucket for my needs, in the right size. Little did I know that it would exceed my expectations by a lot. This bucket is extremely well-made and well-thought out. The lid is 2 part (attached) so that you can lift the lip with your finger and drop something in, using one hand. You then can lift the entire 2 part lid off the bottom for dumping. The bail (handle) is well made and sturdily attached. The unit is very easy to clean. We aren't using the bracket, we keep ours on the counter. But the bracket design is also outstanding. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to store compost, before dumping it in their compost heap or barrel.

This compost bin by Brabantia was almost was exactly what I was looking for. It feels sturdy, the lid lifts easily, stays up, and still fits under my upper cabinets when open. What I didn't plan for was the interior space has some crevices due to the way it is molded for the optional wall bracket (see photo in review). I do not plan to use bags so this will make cleaning out those little spots harder and ended up being the only deal breaker for me. I will add that because of the larger shape of the top (aprox 9x7), it could be difficult to find a generic compost bag that will fit properly.

I was looking for something to store my food scraps in before I took it out to the compost pile. I like keeping it on the counter for convenience. I purchased the gray one. This is perfect! It looks nice on the counter. It is roomy. It comes with a handle for easy transporting outside. It comes with a wall mount but I am not using that. Right now I did not buy the plastic liners. I may later. You will not be displeased with this!

We’ve been using this as our compost bin for the past month or so and it’s perfect! This one product has improved our kitchen setup so much. We installed on the inside of our cupboard and it’s super easy to pop in and out of the holder when we want it up on the counter. The lid holds the liner in place and emptying it when it gets full is super easy.

This is what I spent HOURS looking for. A basic lidded container that would work well with a bag and not be hideously ugly on my kitchen counter. Bonus that it's not made of metal (won't rust) or ceramic (won't break if I drop it). I used 2.6 gal compostable bags instead of the "Type S"--they are a touch big, but I think that will be better in the long run (make them easier to twist closed). I can still hide the bag edge by carefully arranging it under the lid's lip. I'm guessing odor won't be much of an issue because I won't be composting any meat products or by-products (I live in an apartment and my local farmer's market doesn't accept them). If service offerings change, though, I'll just freeze a bag if I put something yucky in it.

I love the style and size of this compost box - and the plastic is super easy to clean out after you empty it. I keep it under my sink, and the flip up top makes for a quick and easy drop in of scraps with one hand. The included wall mount is cool too, but just wasn't necessary for my kitchen, but I like the idea!
