Our contractor who finished off our basement area suggested putting this additive in the paint. I was wondering if it would effect the paint color. It doesn't appear to have any effect on the paint thickness or finish. The paint looks the same after drying! I like having the low cost insurance it provides in the paint. The walls have an added layer of protection against moisture.

We have wood panel walls. I don't like the look so I covered them with contractors putty (mud), textured and painted them. They looked great but when I wanted to repaint I ended up sanding down the mud to get a smoother look and I found what I thought was green paint in the mud. I had never painted the room green so after some research we realized it was mold. We live where the humidity is high, we run the AC nearly all the time; the room is not insulated as well as it should be so that must be a recipe for mold?? We had to strip all the walls to remove the mold and start all over again using mud to texture the walls. I found this product on Amazon to mix with the paint to prevent mold from growing. I used it and then after a few weeks stripped an area to check for mold and there was none. During this whole thing I found out that the mold grew very quickly. It took less than a week to show up on a fresh wall. This product is a total life saver and it's not at all expensive. The mold was green and it does not show up until the mud is wet. I'd wet it with a cloth and I was able to peel it off in strips. Off the wall it looks something like paper. But these walls have never been papered or painted green. It was strange and we are very glad to be rid of it.

I live in Baja and am right inline for strong ocean air currants and fog. MY Mexican paint, mildewed within two months. I am having to repaint my exterior with goo US Semi Gloss paint, and added this to my 5 gal buckets. We shall see if it improves my paint siding quality!!! Wish me luck!
