Perfect addition to our home
Amazing quality and brightness! We ordered a set of these and they were so easy to install and setup. The app works well if you have the bridge and it’s very fun to set different colours to light up a mood. Now that I know they work so well, I will be buying another 12 to finish our home. Thanks!

The price for quality.
I work from home, and to make my office 'feel' differently when I am there working or in my free time, I decided to play around with color-changing bulbs a few years ago. Depending on why I was there, they seemed to give my office the ambiance I was looking for. Sadly, the bulbs that I used before relied on an internet connection to work, and too many times, behaved not as expected. So, when I moved the office to another room in the house, I decided to go all in and find a set of (6) ceiling lights. There are definitely other options available that are much cheaper than the Philips Hue lights. Some of them are not at all bad and may be a better choice for a lot of people. I ended up paying an arm and a leg compared to others for the Hue system because of the reliability of Wi-Fi in our area. I had experienced one too many times that my previous set of lower-end bulbs simply could not connect, or I had to re-add them to my setup again. When combined with the hub, these lights allow me to set them up once and no longer depend on my internet connection. I can also turn all the lights on and off or cycle through mood settings by using the smart switch/remote (hub and switch sold separately). So, now they work as a standard set of lights without having to get my phone out every time. The quality of the lights, both the light itself and the build quality, is fantastic. To be fair, it should be for the price you pay. The app is, I think, one of the most user-friendly apps in this space. It still can be complex for some, but it will be much easier than most other apps. As others have mentioned, the Hue lights, together with the hub and the light switch, are very dependable and work nicely. Like many other things, if you are looking for lights that you will enjoy for many, many years and want them to work flawlessly and without any fuss once they are set up, it might be worth considering these. Yes, they are expensive, but ask yourself if it is worth the extra money to turn your room into something extraordinary.

Brightened and Modernized the Basement
I replaced three of the boob lights in our basement to get it out of the 90s. They had small junction box fixtures so 90% of the effort in installing these were from that. If you are installing in a new location without an existing hole, install is an absolute breeze. The Good: --Rock solid Hue connectivity and quality. --These things will fit almost anywhere. --The appearance is quite nice and the diffuser is excellent! It looks and feels like a Kindle surface. The light quality is tremendous. The Cromulent: --I really don't like that these came with permanent splices. I know, "Why would you ever need to move them??" Well, given the cost and ease of install, I plan to take all of the smart home stuff if we ever move. There are several code-approved ways to connect wires. This is the worst. That's a personal preference, so I'm not going to take any stars off. --The actual issue with the splices were the fact that they weren't super easy to work with due to the uh... creative wiring choices the previous owner and/or builder made with wiring the basement. The wires were significantly larger than even 12-gauge wiring. Had to buy a separate junction box to make the splices to the large-gauge wire. If you have normal light circuit wiring, no problem. The Bad: --The lip on the light is extremely narrow. Really bad design. You have to get the hole cut within like a quarter inch. Easy with a hole saw, but not so much if you have an existing hole preventing you from using a hole saw. --The other issue that I think actually was enough to knock off a star was the included junction box. The door on it would NOT stay closed. Disappointed given the cost. Edit: I noticed some reviews mentioned connectivity being an issue, especially without the bridge. I went back and looked and I haven't lost connectivity with the bridge once with these lights since installing 3 or 4 months ago. I think having the bridge is a worthwhile cost if you have more than a couple lights. The benefits are immense. You can also look at connecting the bulbs directly to a zigbee hub like Home Assistant with a zigbee dongle. These are among the most reliable devices in my house in terms of connectivity.

Perfect kitchen can light.
Works like a champ and super easy to install. Had to cut my ceiling hole a little bigger, once done, it went in perfectly and the springs are durable enough to keep it in place. Pretty bright and is dimmable with or without the app.

High price, but very nice zigbee light. Works with Home Assistant (after some pairing issues)
Rock solid zigbee player, but pairing with non-Phillips gear is needlessly difficult. To get paired with ZHA on Home Assistant, you should power cycle the bulb as follows: On = 5 sec Off = 2 sec On = 5 sec Off = 2 sec On = 5 sec Off = 2 sec On = 5 sec Off = 2 sec Final On If you did it right, you will see a series of hard white flashes. Immediately after, ZHA picked up the light. Since then, it's been a rock star of a light and a zigbee router.

So much better than the old high hats!
I love these! Our new house was dark. The only lights were old high hats and pendants in the kitchen and lamps you plug in in the bedrooms and main living spaces. So I bought these. 1 over the shower. 4 for the kitchen. The openings were slightly larger than these needed but we got them to work. They look so much better being white and flush mounts. The app was easy to set up. And the automations and scenes easy to program in. They are so cool. It’s so nice to be able to set them to a soft evening light for Tv time versus a bright light when cooking. My husband hasn’t seen them yet. I had a handy man install them and set them up to control myself in under 10 minutes including installing and upgrading the hub. The hub just plugs into your modem with a supplied cable and a power chord. Super easy. The App walks you through. The QR codes don’t work but the app lets you bypass the QR code to install. Pics of the old lights versus the new! Sorry for the blurry pics when the lights are on All in all. I love them. Will update if my husband has a different opinion when he gets home.

Top quality
Everything is quality about these lights. Installation, and especially programming (a breeze) and ease of use. I also purchased from a different company here on Amazon. That set was upstairs (returned and exchanged with Philips), Philips downstairs. The other company is absolutely no comparison to Philips. While they work, unless you use smart lights only for rarely used rooms, it is an absolute pain to use any other company than Philips. 1. Philips is a breeze to program. With the other company you need to program every single command. I.e. turn lights to 30%, turn lights to 50%, etc. You also need to program individual steps like, turn hall lights on, turn hall lights off, and any other command you may want your lights to do. Also the programming was not straight forward. It took quite some time to figure out and make it work. With Philips you hook up Siri in no time (need a hub!-definitely worth it) and you just ask Siri to turn lights on or off, or to any percentage without having to program it. 2. Philips comes with 113 pre-made light scenes to choose from. A huge time saver, and options I could have never come up with. Very beautiful and pretty much anything you can think of for any occasion and events. Very classy! The other one offers maybe three scenes. And very basic. You have to program anything else. 3. Philips comes with a separately purchasable remote control (definitely worth it plus VERY stylish and no screws or wiring needed) that can save numerous of your favorite light scenes so you, your kids, partner, guests don’t need to download the app to turn on, off or dim lights. 4. The Philips app itself is so much more use friendly than the app from the other company. 5. Note: you don’t need the remote or hub but it does bring out all the options the Philips lights have to offer. General note: with any smart lights, the light switch has to remain on at all times for smart lights to function and can only be controlled via an app or voice control (or remote). If you have a family or often guests, it really is a pain for them to turn lights on and off without a remote. Something to consider.
