I got this for my son, and it turned out to be one of the best science-themed gifts we’ve tried. The jar is a compact size, perfect for small hands and easy to display on a nightstand or shelf. My daughter and I love the Light-Up Terrarium Kit by Mini Explorer! The contents of the box were all clearly labeled. The Setup Guide was very well done with step by step instructions, including photos for each step. There were more than enough materials included and they were all good quality and exactly as pictured. Our seeds started to sprout after just a few days and my daughter looks forward to watering her plants every day when we get home. It has provided a fun forum for us to educate her on the importance of plant life and the importance of taking care of things. She also likes to use the included sprayer bottle to water Mommy and Daddy. :) She is much younger than the recommended age for the product, but with our help and supervision she has really done well and enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a fun, educational project that's also pretty, to do with their child.

My daughter and I loved the whole process! She loved the little creatures it came with and putting all the stickers on it. I normally can't get ANYTHING to grow but these grew within days, as promised! My child was so proud to be a part of something growing and thriving; so cool to see! The unfortunate, sad part of the story is.. our cat apparently likes Wheatgrass and he knocked the entire container into the sink! It took the better part of an hour to clean and dropping a bunch of rocks down the sink. Now her plant/terrarium is destroyed and she's heart broken. Tried to salvage it but it's not possible. So my tips are: it's really fun but keep away from animals! And be careful how much water you use, mine got moldy very fast, even with just a couple sprays everyday.

Super awesome gift for anyone (adult or child) who likes to put together and grow things. My 10 year old easily assembled and charged the light. The seeds sprouted fast and we brought it outside a few times to get some good sunshine. He loves it as a light at night - makes some neat shadows ~~~~~~~~~~ Jan 2020 Update: The Terrarium has kept together really well! The grass grew fast and looked amazing. After a while it eventually rotted out, like anything organic would - but we simply pulled up the grass, add some more of our own soil and planted some new seeds! It’s been a great growing nightlight! We loved it so much we bought a second for an 8 year olds birthday party gift.

This is such a cute non-tech item for kids. It was easy for my 4 year old to make, the directions were very clear, the accessories to make it were awesome. My only complaint is that our lighted lid doesn’t hold a charge. We charged it the first night we unwrapped it but it will only stay lit when it’s on the charger. So that’s kind of disappointing. Overall, I’d still recommend a terrarium to kids, maybe not this particular one though.

Come well packaged and all pieces included. Easy instructions to follow and my son had fun making it. The seeds didn't take long to grow accurate time frame set in instructions and have started sprouting now. Great value you for money. Only thing wrong is the spray bottle doesn't work properly but is not an issue.

My son got this when he was 5 and absolutely loved it and still loves it now (he’s 7). Such a cool gift, we’ve purchased more for birthday gifts and they were always a big hit!

This was a great starter kit to build a terrarium. It had everything you need and the light was a nice feature. When the seeds grow, there is no room and they push the lid off so you can no longer use the lid or light. Needs to be taller/deeper I. The design or use less sand on the bottom.
