Value for money and looks good
A query to the supplier was answered promptly and goods arrived delivery surpasses my expectations. I found the box easy to build, the quality good and it does look much better than the plastic storage units that are available. Like some others that have left reviews I have fitted an additional strut to hold up the lid and also some cupboard catches to hold the removable front panel at both sides rather than the single hook and eye that was supplied.

Bit of a bargain
Quite a bit of a bargain and I am very glad I took the plunge. Its a well made and easy to construct. Took me about 30 minutes on my own with a cordless drill.Fits lots of garden bits in - lawn mower, tools, etc, with plenty of room.Recommended.

Good size but cheap wood
Arrived quite late but it did come with the correct size of felt and with the pieces of wood to support the floor (which other customers have had problems with). It's a good size and the front coming off is ideal for me as I wanted this to store my small lawnmower and I've also managed to fit a large bag of compost and two decent sized folding recliners with cushions. My flat is upstairs, so my neighbour's windows are overlooking my garden, I didn't want a large shed taking up tons of space in the garden area itself so this slots in perfectly underneath their windows without blocking their light.I would be able to fit more in if the slant of the roof was at slightly less of an angle. The angle isn't extreme, but it could be less without causing any problems for rain run-off or what have you.The wood isn't great quality and is very soft and splits easily. The hinges also bend if you lift the lid up fully like my 'helper' did.As the front panel comes off, a lock would need to be added to the side (or both sides). I attempted to figure out how to add one but struggled to find the correct size of hasp. In the end I decided that my garden was safe enough in the middle of a row of gardens and heavily overlooked, but I wouldn't be putting anything expensive in it.

Check sizes on Rowlinson website. It's smaller than it says on Amazon
Beware! This item is not as big as advertised. 30 cm shoter in height and4cm in depth. Check the Rowlinson site for true dimensions and approx £20 cheaper in price. I have contacted the firm direct re the advertised size discrepancy but had no response. Having built and painted this item I am stuck with something I can't return or use as originally intended.

The rustic garden storage box
For the price it is good value; if you deduct VAT the actually cost is about £100, and that includes delivery and Amazon's mark up. If you tried to source the materials separately it would cost a lot more. On the down side it is made of some rough cut timber, but perhaps this "rustic look" is to some peoples liking? The instructions tell you NOT to put it directly on the ground but to the put the base on 50mm X 50mm treated wooden bearers (not supplied) so this should be factored into the overall cost. One of the reasons for this is that none of the wood used is treated, it is stained and the leaflet says it must, therefore, be treated within 3 months with a wood preservative. It may be worth treating the individual components BEFORE construction, because afterwards some parts will be hard to get at. It may also be worth sealing the joins to reduce the risk of rot setting in prematurely, but if a good coating of preservative has been used this may be overkill. To reduce the risk of wood splitting during construction use a pilot drill to make holes where the screws are going.

You need joinery skills.
Buyer Beware! This item is an absolute horror story. Instructions are useless. Luckily this item is wooden so it can be modified to fit together with basic woodwork tools, once you work out exactly how the whole thing fits together. Even the roof is at least 2 inches too narrow and the front removable panel is too high.. Luckily I am using it inside a shed because it would never be watertight.

Very Disappointed
The picture looks much nicer than the product. The wood sides are flimsy - very thin and haven't been sanded.- and the overall design for the unit is cheap and not sturdy. It came on a palette and frankly was too big to contemplate sending back, but every day I wish I had tried harder. We had to permanently screw in (attach) the front section, that looked so convenient because it was supposed to come out to allow greater access, just so the unit would hold together. I took out my power sander and did what I could with the terrible looking wood. I also attempted to stain it with a Thompson water seal to match the other wood on our terrace and it had been treated with some kind of oil based treatment that made the stain streak and look terrible. The hardware that this comes with is very low quality. We had to go out and buy all new screws to try to get it to hold together. Finally the roof material was stained and so ugly that we threw it away in the end. We are living with this for one season but it will not be staying around long. Wasted money.

Low grade wood and poor construction
Title about says it all. The wood used to construct this chest is maybe grade 4. Knots are loose on the siding and the 1"x1" "structural" members are rough stock and warped. I doubt any of the wood was dried properly due to the excessive warping in a majority of the chest components. Even the hardware is sub-par. Many - about a third - of the nails were malformed and unusable. The screws are soft material that began to strip out even with pilot holes drilled in the pine. The asphalt sheet roofing was folded down the middle which created an unsightly seam that is already showing signs of failure right out of the box. I purchased this item via Amazon Warehouse for less than one third the asking price. I purchased knowing it may have issues, but the poor quality was not just one component, it was found throughout the entire assembly.
