Good kit for the price
I used these on a bead lathe so they felt oversized but that is because I used them on a bead lathe. You can see the size difference in the photo. That being said they were sharp out the box, no burs and good finish on the steel, handles felt secure and have a good weight for the tool. They have a short blade, I would imagine this is for a few reasons, one being the tool should never be that far from the rest and the longer handle gives more control when doing the 'turners dance' . I always feel in control of the tool and it cuts fine with very little catches, I've not used a lathe in 2r years so I would imagine that was me.In short I reccomend these tools to anyone looking into turning. Good thickness, really good handles for control and no bother to use. With a lifetime guarantee to boot well worth it

Spend money or spend time!
All tools need to be sharpened and prepared before use, this cheep set of turning tools will need more time than a more expensive set so you decide what you can spare more of time or cash!I sharpened & reprofiled mine with a sanding disk in a drill, cheep but effective. I maintain the edges with a cheep 600 grit diamond plate.I scraped the lacquer off the handles and treated them with linseed oil. this makes them far more comfortable when using for extended periods.I also spent some time rubbing down the shafts of the tools with some 400 grit wet & dry, not enough to polish them but just enough that they slide on my aluminum tool rest a bit better.I have taken off one star because the parting off tool was rounded off on side of the cutting point meaning that it had to have about 2mm ground off to get to square sides (vital in a plunging style tool) and because there is no roughing gouge in the set but the large spindle gouge does a good enough job.TLDRonce they are set up right they work as well as a much more expensive set.

Very good quality for this price
As a beginner to wood turning, this set is really good for the price. They work very well for spindles, but don't use them on any bowls, which you would need to buy bowl gouges. The chisels get dull quite quickly though. I later bought a credit-card size sharpener to sharpen the tools.

Cheap - as you would expect
I’ve given these an average star rating because they’re truly not great, require constant sharpening, and the finish on the handle is horrific.BUT they’re cheap, give you plenty of sharpening practice, and I sanded and waxed the handles so they’re much better now.All in all for the money they kinda do the trick and force you to learn how to sharpen - which is a necessary skill anyway

Great value set
Very good VFM (value for money) ideal starter set, I'm really enjoying using these, I'm new to wood turning but using my metal lathe training to good effect with these tools.

Comprehensive lathe tool set
I bought a cheap wood working lathe which came with a couple of basic tools. It soon became apparent that I would need a few more so I looked on Amazon and found this set which looked ideal. They arrived and at the first opportunity I tried them out. for the price they're excellent and also good value for money.I'd recommend this set to anyone starting out with wood turning. They will keep me entertained for some time, they

Cheap n cheerful
Purchased to use on a new lathe, they all needed sharpening prior to use. But as a first time wood Turner, my friend did this for me. Yes they are a cheap set, but once sharp they will do the job. The lifetime warranty is great as long as registered within 30 days of purchase. So what's to lose? If they break silverline will replace them.Ideal for beginners not wanting to spend a fortune on a decent set.
