A Powerful Source of Pain
Watching "Smile" was such a great surprise. It's a new release movie and I was able to see it for free because of my subscription. Subconsciously I was numbering tensions festering as I followed along, and this is because of the subtleties which were playing alongside one another, in confection. As a psychiatrist Rose Cotter(Sosie Bacon) listens to patients define a horror which will beset Rose herself. Terror attacks the small framed, elegant, and trim poise of Rose, who herself usually oversees the weak in an austere protocol. Sosie, playing Rose, is a classic example of a lifetime heroin , that while in possession of a panoply of expertise is thrown unjustly into dramas. "Smile" is a higher dimension hand ringer of dark toned omnipresent frights. In the psychiatric unit Rose is seen attending to a patient. The walls of the room are a light turquoise blue and at the center of the space is a seating place, also clean and minimal. It is powerful to remember, because when Rose herself is victimized, it is a reversal of herself, her position. One could think upon this, and relate to the virtues accumulating within this victim, who is going to remain steadfast. These sufferers are in a vocation of confession, of sorting out and defining symptoms which are obscure to exactness. However, the movie is entertaining and we are on nerves waiting for the terror to show up again. Robin Weigert as Dr. Madeline Northcott is less demure than Rose, but also is in a position of power. The psychiatric patients offer unsettling provocations of horror, and are definitely going to be seen again.

good jump scares
The plot line was definitely drawn out and I think that they could have cut screen time by limiting the car scenes just because they become repetitive. I did like the special effects and jump scares. This would be fun to watch in Cinema. A little sad with the ending as there may have been a few ways to break the chain but only one was briefly shown. I would love to know if she could have broken it by just not being scared of it anymore and since mister cop friend knew the cases, I'm not sure why he stayed to watch when he could have dipped out and boom chain broken. Overall I do think it was for the most part well put together and hands down will make your skin crawl and your butt move from your seat.

very interesting film
Well first off did the writer watch the Ring to many times and the Doctor going wacko when she was trying to convince people she was erratic and didn't put out the facts is she did maybe people would have start taking notice of this to me that was the biggest turn off of the film to me this is a one time watch glad they brought it to paramount plus

Sustained creepiness
I don't like films that rely entirely on jump scares. This film had a couple, but it also had enough of a sense of atmosphere and tension throughout that it kept me engaged. The deeper subtext seemed to be that trauma can be contagious, infecting everyone who comes in contact with it. Whether one believes in the existence of evil as a reality or not, it's hard to deny that one person's actions can reverberate through other peoples' lives in profound ways, causing a chain reaction of grief across families and communities.Overall good acting from the leads, some nice ethereal cinematography and minimalist scoring made this a solid watch.

Overall good movie but overplayed story line and predictable
If you like jumpscares, this movie will be great for you.If you want a scary movie that keeps you guessing and doesnt end exactly how you expect it to, not so much.I could tell where this was going from the beginning and they did not disappoint. Just like Jeepers Creepers and every "Curse" monster movie.Overall, not a bad movie. The acting is great, the scenery is okay, but its honestly just a typical scary movie, nothing to write home about.

Not groundbreaking, but . . .
really, not a bad horror flick at all. The acting is solid, the premise interesting enough, and the writing does a good job of putting us in Rose's shoes. The ending was as expected -- they probably could have done a lot more with it. But, if you're looking for something entertaining and relatively creepy, this works.TW: suicide, mental illness

A confusing but intriguing account of Dentistry gone wrong.
As the name of the film implies, there are plenty of smiles to be had in this film, though some are a bit more anxiety inducing than others. Wasn’t as much dentristy involved as I thought there might be and there’s something about a demon but I think i was hallucinating or something. Anyhoo, a fun ride and reminder to brush your teeth.

Movie Review By a Movie Writer
First, this movie has a lot of similarities to movie like BABADOOK, IT FOLLOWS, and even INVASION of THE BODY SNATCHERS but it struggles to balance it's unique problem with being a unique story. Note, this film is a elongated adaption of a short film called Laura Hasn't Slept.I think it's the foundation of the story where the weak points are. The idea of the type of monster and building a story that doesn't feel as character driven as it leads up to be. Well Bacon, is as great as her parents( happy she decided to act eve though they didn't want her too), I often felt the story left with big shoe to fill as the main character.Focus just on the story if you are looking for something miles apart from It Follows, this isn't it. It tries very hard to fill in story and make it more then just the short story it starts as but because of this it feels like the movie drags for a bit and even feels like the creative team become bored toward the end since the ending is as typical as typical gets.My final notes, if you like scary looking images watch it, if you want a story were they do a bit more story like in The Ring or The Grudge, then you are better off watching something else, and if you just want to figure it all out for yourself then go for it. Story: 2/5. Acting: 4/5. Production: 4/5.
