Q: Can this arm be connected with a standard tripod please? I want to build a camera support that has the shape of an inverted "L".

Yes, it can be connected to any standard tripod. I attach mine to a tripod to gain extra height. This arm is fairly expensive, but it is all metal construction. If you are using a heavy camera, there is a double arm model available.

Q: Can this be easily used with iPhone (instead of a camera)?

That is a great question... the camera mount is a standard for a camera or video camera with the quick release for the pad that attaches to the bottom of a camera. In its current state> no, but I wonder if you went to the Manfrotto website if they would have a retrofit for a smart phone. Might be worth a call (201) 818-9500, or an email to their customer service department http://www.manfrotto.us/contact-us

Q: Do i need to buy anything else if i want to attach this to a table? and will it hold cannon 7d?

You will need a superclamp or something similar to attach it to a table. If you don't care about the table, you could drill through it - each end has a different thread I believe 1/4" and 3/8". It will hold a Canon 7d, but it probably won't be very stable fully extended.

Q: Would this work with the manfrotto mkcompactacn-bk compact action tripod? from product image, it's hard to tell if this would connect or not.

It would connect if you have a 1/4" bolt or thread that you could connect the two together with. I have this product but I just bolt it down to my desk.
