This device has overactive thermal portection that shuts the disk down incorrectly
As a USB 3 enclosure it's OK. Physically well made like most Orico products although a bit lighter than earlier models. Data transfer is pretty much what one would expect with modern disks - in my case various sizes of latest generation Seagate Exos drives.BUT it - and all the other current Orico UASP enclosures - has a major flaw. If there's no activity on the disk for roughly one hour then the enclosure shuts the disk down and cuts power off on the enclosure. On paper the reason appears to be thermal management to prevent the disk overheating. Windows 10/11 power settings and device or USB hub power settings which allow/deny Windows ability to manage the drive's power don't alter this behaviour. Which means once the enclosure is shut down Windows can't wake the drive again. Even using admin level Powershell to configure power management to over-ride normal power policy doesn't change this, because it's a hardware feature built-in to the enclosure itself with no user--operable means of working around it.The only way to "wake" the drive is to physically press the power button; and that wakeup is not an especially rapid process especially with larger modern drives. This effectively means that the enclosure is almost useless for any form of automated or scheduled backup, especially where one walks away leaving the running system to do its thing at a later scheduled time, or where one has set the system to power up automatically to carry out backups.Personally, because there's no mention of this so-called feature in the device's advertising I consider it a misrepresentation: it renders the enclosure utterly useless for me. Returned for a full refund. It and one other similar enclosure are the first bad Orico products in over a decade. Sad!

Terrible in every way
I wanted a fast caddy to ensure my drive wasn't bottlenecked, this is advertised as usb 3.2 Gen 1 device so should be plenty for my drive, but it runs around half the speed of my many years old usb 3.0 dock while writing files, and has slightly slower speeds during reads.I swapped drives around and tried different usb ports only to see consistently poor results that did not apply to my 'slower' dock.Beyond the terrible write speed, the unit itself feels incredibly cheap. Low quality plastic housing, wobbly power button. There is no padding inside as shown in the product images. This is essential to hold the drive in place, if you hold the caddy with a drive installed you can feel it bumping around. There is no ventilation for the drive, i'd be worried about temps under extended usage.Smaller point but there are also no feet on the outside of the unit, I think this is the first external HDD casing i've had that didn't have some kind of anti vibration / slip feet. It just really helps hammer home how little effort went into designing this product.Stay well clear of this one.
