Can I use it with plastic rail too

Sorry I dont know, but I wouldn't think so. It has thick wooden tracks which join the wooden track system of Brio and all other wooden tracks. They slot together like a wooden jigsaw puzzle, so I can't imagine plastic would have the same depth to join on.

Are the wooden rails removable? We've got a couple of bridges that the tracks tend to fall out of.

No, the rails are not removeable. The bridge is secure with fixed sturdy sides and has a gap each side for the other track to rest on which further secures the track connection to the bridge. Very happy with ours and my boys have had it for 2+ years and is still strong and sturdy. No risk of track falling out 👌🏾 Brio as a brand Is quality

One reviewer suggests trains don't fit under this bridge. Can anyone confirm this?

Our wooden Thomas trains do go under the bridge, but with only millimetres to spare. My two year old son loves it.
