Just what I've always wanted.
It's heavier than I thought it would be, which is good as it makes it very sturdy. Easy to assemble and the parts fit perfectly. I've always wanted a library chair and this one is much cheaper than others I've seen. I think it's actually made of pieces of bamboo glued together rather than solid wood. But it looks great and it's very practical.

As described
It is a modern example of a library chair that transforms into a small but sturdy set of steps. Very easy to assemble. Excellent

If you're careful and patient, you won't have any real trouble...
So, several reviews here saying it's a bit of a so-and-so to assemble and the instructions are not great. I can't really argue with them. But it's not half as bad as some people seem to be saying.I'm well used to building this sort of thing, and it took me about an hour. Think about every step, don't tighten everything until it's all together, and use a bit of common sense, and you'll be fine.A few hints:-a) there are some dowels which hold the chair back to the sides. The instructions say put them into the back parts of the chair. I'd advise tapping them home into the side part of the chair, where they are a snug fit. It'll go together much better if you do.b) as someone else suggested, use an awl to line up the holes for the screws into the screwy nut things. I just read that - wish I'd thought of it at the time!c) On mine at least, the hinge isn't as well screwed down as it might be. Check it, and possibly be prepared to fit some better screws. So it's friggy and not quite the quality of, say, IKEA. So it loses a star. But it's sturdy and works well. And it looks really good - the dark yellow varnished finish is better than I expected.Generally, very pleased. For the price, it's great.

It's a great product if you like adapting your own models and ...
Product is ok in theory, but the instructions are diabolical. Part D which is the hinge, is not even mentioned in the build. This lead to much fretting which meant the fold did not work and hence damaged the chair. Also, some of the screw holes were in the wrong place, and one of the steps didn't line up with the recess and had to be filed down in order to fit. It's a great product if you like adapting your own models and showing initiative to build it. If you don't want an afternoon of frustration and disappointment because you don't like flat packs then avoid at all cost.

Works a treat.
Easy to sort the bits and put together. As easy as anything MFI did or IKEA do.Instructions give good guidance, but ok n places you have to think outside the picture. Dowels go on both ends of seat back, not just one side. All the holes line up.Helps if you use a ratchet screwdriver with a hex bit instead of the Allen key provided, makes life easy.Overall pleased with the finished look. The wife is pleased and can easily use it. Very comfy with a memory foam cushion on it.

Good design, curious item
Bought it for kitchen to reach the shelves and have an extra seat at the same time. As a seat the chair is few centimetres lower than my other chairs. But is still comfortable. When used as a ladder, the bottom two steps are too steep, making you stand on your toes because you cannot place your foot deep enough on the step. This is a flaw in design. The bolts and other small parts came loose in the box, so I was worried some could be missing, but turned out all were there and even few were spare.Assembly was easy, all holes matched well and the result is sturdy enough.
