Brilliant!
Fantastic bit of kit, especially if you cook a lot of meat. Being able to read the inner temperature of meat, whilst it is cooking, takes all the guess work out of it. You learn how much the temperature continues to rise once the meat has been taken out of the oven; often by 10 degrees, and adjust accordingly. You can roast of joint of beef knowing how pink or well done it will be and you will have no concerns about undercooking poultry, assuming you have placed the probe in the right place. It is very quick to give you an accurate reading, some thermometers take a few seconds to do this. It is very intuitive to use and good value for money.

Delivers constantly great roasts - taking out all there guess work and worry
Does an excellent job. We do a lot of roasts - for Sunday dinners and making up our own sandwich meat. We know exactly went into the sliced meat. Have roasted Ham, Pork and Beef all to perfection using this tool. I love the way, having told it the size and type of joint, it calculates the time to get rare, medium rare, medium or well done roasts. The time varies as it cooks, the device measures temp in the oven and deep inside the roast. Then gives dynamic updates on the amount of time left to cook. Delivers consistent, perfectly cooked roasts every time, takes all the guess work and worry out of the equation. The only criticism is that the alarm indicating time to take out of the oven is too low and easily missed if you are sat in another room. If it could have been louder that would make it much better.

Precision Digital Meat Thermometer
This was a great Christmas present purchase for my dad, he loves it and it came in handy on Christmas day, it was delivered in great timing and in good condition

accurate cooking at last
It works well. Easy to use and easy to extract the probe from the cooked meat (earlier HB probes would come apart as you pulled on them, leaving you with a useless thermocouple and a small aluminium tube). Use temperature targets from online sources rather than the enclosed leaflet, some of them will overcook your meat.

Very dissapointed and two samples did not work
Amazon had these cooking thermometers at a very good promotional discount so I took the plunge and bought two for Christmas presents. I was very disappointed. Both thermometers had intermittent contacts between the miniature audio jack, that connects the temperature sensor to the display, and the socket. The plug had to be wiggled in the socket to get a reading and then it was jumping between 20 degrees (presumably room temperature) and 10 degrees. Leaving the plug alone the display juddered to three minus signs "- - -" - not even a temperature. I swapped the probes between the two displays and both exhibited the same fault, so it was not simply a rogue unit, but a faulty batch. The feel of the product was flimsy and I noted that this proud to be "British" device has USDA (United Stated Department of Agriculture) recommended cooking temperatures in addition to those suggested be Heston Blumenthal himself. The display on the device is primitive. We are used to dot matrix displays and better in the 21st century. This harks back to the '70s when manufacturers were forced to create whole alphabets using 7-segment displays. There are more than seven on this, but not many, resulting in words being hard to read undulating, uneven lines of characters.

That it works
Very disappointed to Find the actual screen was not Illuminated. Would have thought for the cost that would have been the case.

Good when it works
Perhaps mine is broken, but the connection/cable seems very sensitive. I use mine in a BBQ and when I put the lid on the BBQ the reading sometimes disappears. I have to either re-seat the lid or wiggle the cable before it comes back on again. I bought my neighbor one at the same time, and his is exactly the same. When it works, its really good and delivers great results. I love the fact I can monitor BBQ temperature around the actual meat which is really important. I just wish it was a little more robust.

Very versatile thermometer, on the expensive side but worth it.
This is expensive but better than the last one I had as it has dual sensors in the probe and is also manually programmable. I like the fact that it works out how long it will take to cook your meal by monitoring the oven temperature and the rate of temperature rise in the meat or whatever you are cooking. The warning beep when you get up to temperature could be louder. Can also be used in a pan as it comes with a clip to clip the probe to the side of the pan. Ideal for jam making.
