Works for tiny laptop screws that are stripped
This saved us on a laptop repair. We bought a new battery for a laptop, but two of the screws holding the back cover on had stripped heads (using a star-type driver) - probably due to prior work on the laptop. We drilled out the head about 1/8" deep to the exact size for one of the screw extractors and then put the extractor in the drill and backed out the screw very slowly. It worked. Then, used new screws when putting it back together. Then, not 8 hours later, I was trying to replace a Garmin watch band and couldn't get one of the screws out and used the appropriate sized extractor and the screw came right out without even drilling it first. The whole set seems very well made and covers everything from tiny watch or laptop screws up to much larger screws.

The extractor bit broke off in the hole! (Beware: $30 gift card offered for product reviews...)
This screw extraction set has a huge number of positive reviews. My personal experience with it has been rather disappointing. When an M8 screw broke off flush inside our HF wood chipper-shredder's rotor assembly, I ordered this screw extraction set. After receiving the set yesterday, I drilled a #3 size hole as directed. The instructions, written in poor English, were somewhat adequate. These are reverse drill bits, so they have to be drilled counter-clockwise and "slowly." The recommended RPM is less than 200, but there's no way you'll know at what speed your drill is actually rotating. I used a Sears 19.2V battery-powered drill set on Low. Would cutting oil help the process? Alternating smaller #5 and then the #3 bits eventually resulted in a hole deep enough for the extraction bit, but it took a good 20 minutes of drilling. I inserted the extraction bit into the hole using the same battery-powered drill set on low and the extraction bit immediately snapped off with the torque set at about 3/4 of the drill's maximum, almost flush with the screw. I couldn't get the extraction bit out. A picture of what's left of that bit is attached. Now, it appears that I'll have to drill out not just the screw but the the extraction bit as well. Ain't that just great?Getting nowhere using a hand electric drill, I removed the rotor from the shredder (which required a gear puller) and placed it in my Jet drill press. Using cutting oil, I quickly wore out 2 of those "15X" drill bits that are supposed to be able to handle drilling into metal using 3/16" and 1/4" sizes. I was only able to make a small dent into the broken off bit. At that point, I gave up and ordered a new rotor from HF.And then, just yesterday, I received in the mail a post-card offering me a $30 Amazon gift card for reviewing this product. COULD THAT BE THE REASON FOR THE HIGH NUMBER OF POSITIVE REVIEWS?

Not the best but does the job
Doesn't work on all screws, build material is alright, but it does get the simpler and easier jobs done that don't require much effort, for example the smaller screws, so i’d say its worth it

Needs design improvement for better efficacy
Overall, it didn't work for me. I was drilling into a screw shaft after the head broke off. It was inside an old plastic electrical box screw hole.Pros: Nice packaging, very nice case to prevent these from getting lost or misplaced. Clear labeling inside the case.Cons: Unsure of the screw material I was drilling into, but it was stronger than the bits' material. As you can hopefully see in my second picture, it misshaped the drill threads instead of taking more material out of the screw. So I was unable to extract the screw and instead shaved the plastic around the screw and used vice grips once it was exposed. The instructions were also unclear and confusing. Mine actually did not come with the instructions I saw on someone's video of the product. I looked at the listing, and the bits were mislabeled, it wasn't clear which direction to use the drill. Then I searched how-to videos for other extractor sets and used the drill in reverse for both drilling and extraction. I then tried the drilling bit with the forward function of the drill, that didn't work very well either. The magnet for the extension bit holder is also very weak, which leads the bit to wobble while drilling and degrades the performance of the tool.
