They are good for talking about colour. Holding them up to the light and seeing the light pass through them is fun. You need to hold two or more colours together to blend colours and hold over one eye to get the full benefit. Pass a metal book ring or string through the holes at the bottom to keep them together. I've used them to make mood monsters signs for the children in my class. Hope that helps.
